Position Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic medical physics support for radiation oncology treatment planning and delivery.
- Design, optimize, and technically evaluate radiation treatment plans.
- Ensure accurate and precise radiation dose delivery.
- Support radiation protection and radiation safety for patients and clinical staff.
- Perform and oversee treatment calculations and independent monitor-unit reviews.
- Conduct weekly and final physics/chart reviews.
- Support treatment-planning system modeling and validation.
- Maintain and evaluate treatment-planning system data.
- Perform quality assurance and calibration of radiation therapy equipment.
- Support linear accelerator and CT simulation equipment.
- Maintain quality-management programs for dosimetry systems and treatment applications.
- Provide technical consultation to radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, engineers, and other clinical personnel.
- Support implementation and validation of new radiation oncology procedures and technologies.
- Assist with troubleshooting radiation oncology hardware, software, networking, and treatment-management systems.
- Maintain required calibration, QA, equipment-performance, dosimetry, and radiation-safety documentation.
Advanced Treatment Support
Candidates Will Support Complex Radiation Treatment Techniques Including
- 2D and 3D conformal therapy.
- Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).
- Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT).
- Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT).
- Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT).
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS).
- Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT).
- HDR and LDR brachytherapy.
- Prostate brachytherapy applications.
- CT simulation and image guidance.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Master's degree or PhD in Medical Physics or a related qualifying field.
- Current Board Certification in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics through the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
- Applicable professional medical physicist licensure where required.
- Minimum 2 years of continuous working experience within the previous 3 years.
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing quality-assurance procedures.
- Minimum 1 year of Therapeutic Medical Physics experience.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Ability to successfully complete all applicable VA credentialing and onboarding requirements.
