About the role
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or
equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years expertise in HCL Commerce and/or IBM WebSphere Commerce (WCS)
8.x — store customization, commands/tasks, tools,
catalog/order/user/organization flows, and back-end integration. v8 experience
is the hiring bar; later Commerce versions are a plus, not a substitute.
• 7+ years Java / J2EE and OOD on large IT systems (WebSphere Application Server
strongly preferred).
• 5+ years Spring / Spring MVC with hands-on Spring Boot architecture (service
boundaries, APIs, resilience, auth) — not “Spring on a résumé only.”
• 5+ years web services (REST and SOAP); ability to specify contracts others can
implement.
• Next.js and React production architecture experience (routing, data fetching,
BFF/API integration, storefront performance). TypeScript preferred.
• 5+ years source control (Git required).
• Experience architecting B2B commerce (punchout, org/user models,
contract/pricing complexity preferred).
• Experience with Agile delivery using Atlassian tools (Jira, Bitbucket/Git,
Confluence).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with engineers and non-engineers.
