Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Technical Consultant – Linux Platform & Virtualization to manage, support, and optimize enterprise Linux environments and virtualization platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Linux administration, virtualization technologies, infrastructure management, troubleshooting, automation, and performance tuning in mission-critical enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE).
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Linux operating systems and related software.
- Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere/ESXi, KVM, or Hyper-V.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, availability, and security of Linux infrastructure.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve critical production issues within SLA timelines.
- Configure and manage storage, file systems, LVM, NFS, SAN, and NAS environments.
- Implement server hardening, security policies, user access management, and compliance standards.
- Automate routine administration tasks using Shell Scripting, Bash, or Python.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
- Work closely with application, database, networking, and cloud teams for infrastructure support.
- Perform system health checks, patch management, and capacity planning.
- Participate in production deployments, maintenance activities, and on-call support.
- Prepare technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience in Linux System Administration.
- Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Ubuntu, or SUSE Linux.
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, KVM, or Hyper-V.
- Strong knowledge of Linux networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, NFS, FTP).
- Experience with storage technologies including SAN, NAS, LVM, and RAID.
- Proficiency in Shell/Bash scripting; Python scripting is an added advantage.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible is preferred.
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
- Good understanding of ITIL processes, incident management, and change management.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Exposure to CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
- Experience working in production support and high-availability environments.
- Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, VMware VCP, or Linux Foundation are preferred.
