Role: Manager – Tax Compliance
This position is focused on the management, oversight, and review of tax compliance reporting across a complex international structure for a FTSE-100 listed, FCA-regulated alternative asset manager with over 30 years' history, managing $120bn of assets and investing across the capital structure. It requires leading relationships with external advisors, fund administrators, and internal stakeholders.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Tax Compliance Management
- Relationship management with fund administrators, tax advisors, and service providers to ensure effective and timely delivery of tax compliance deliverables.
- Management and review of global tax compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions, including:
- Corporate Income Tax Returns
- Partnership and LLP Tax Returns
- VAT/GST Returns
- Withholding Tax (WHT) Filings
- Stamp Duties and Transaction Taxes
- FATCA and CRS Reporting
- GIIN Management and Withholding Statements
- Management and review of global tax payments and related reporting requirements.
- Management and review of transfer pricing documentation and related compliance requirements.
- Oversight of tax calendar management and monitoring of filing deadlines across jurisdictions.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of tax filings while maintaining compliance with internal controls and governance standards.
- Identify tax compliance risks and escalate key issues requiring management attention.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact between the UK-based tax team, external tax advisors, fund administrators, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure a common understanding of objectives and timelines by setting expectations and driving execution in line with project plans.
- Provide regular status updates to senior stakeholders on filing progress, outstanding actions, risks, and key dependencies.
- Coordinate signing approvals and communicate actions required from relevant stakeholders to facilitate timely filings.
- Liaise with local tax advisors across jurisdictions to monitor performance and ensure service levels are maintained.
- Support PMO functions through oversight and delivery management of tax filings performed by external tax advisors.
- Drive process improvements, standardization initiatives, and automation opportunities within the tax compliance function.
- Manage competing priorities and ensure timely completion of multiple concurrent tax compliance projects.
- Coach, mentor, and provide guidance to a team of tax compliance specialists/analysts.
- Review deliverables prepared by team members and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Support talent development, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and control-focused work environment.
Eligibility Criteria
- 8 to 12 years of experience in tax compliance preferably from Big4s, alternative investment, private equity, hedge fund, asset management, or fund administration industry.
- MBA, CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Mandatory experience in managing teams, including performance management, coaching, mentoring, and development of tax professionals.
- Strong understanding of international tax compliance requirements and regulatory reporting.
- Proven experience managing third-party advisors, tax service providers, and stakeholder relationships.
- Experience in overseeing global tax reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
- Exposure to FATCA, CRS, GIIN administration, withholding tax reporting, and transfer pricing compliance.
- Hands-on experience with OneSource Tax Software and related tax compliance platforms preferred.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- PRINCE2, PMP, or other project management certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
