Company Description AFPPPI (Arab Federation for Paper, Printing & Packaging Industries) is a regional federation that promotes the shared interests of member companies across Arab countries in the paper, printing, and packaging sectors. AFPPPI delivers practical services, up-to-date information, and technical expertise to support manufacturing and trading activities. It also facilitates collaboration among companies involved in complementary industrial activities linked to paper, printing, and packaging.
Role Description This part-time remote Structural Engineer role supports AFPPPI member companies with structural design and assessment needs related to industrial facilities and equipment. The Structural Engineer will perform structural analysis and calculations for buildings, machinery foundations, storage systems, and other infrastructure used in paper, printing, and packaging operations. Daily tasks include reviewing design requirements, developing structural concepts, preparing and updating CAD models and drawings, and verifying compliance with relevant codes and standards. The role involves collaborating with civil and mechanical engineering teams, providing technical reports and recommendations, and participating in virtual meetings with member organizations to address structural issues and improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to industrial facilities and processes.
- Proficiency in Structural Analysis and engineering Calculations, including load assessment and design verification.
- Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for producing and modifying structural drawings and models.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Knowledge of relevant international and regional building codes and standards for industrial structures.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in written reports and remote meetings.
- Experience with industrial or manufacturing environments, particularly paper, printing, or packaging facilities, is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple part-time projects, and meet agreed deadlines.
