An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced strategic procurement professional to join a major global organisation undergoing significant transformation across its Procurement function.
This is not a traditional purchasing or operational procurement position.
The role sits within a global, matrixed Procurement organisation and requires someone who can operate strategically across international teams, senior business stakeholders and global Category Management.
The organisation is transforming the way Procurement operates globally, moving towards a more integrated, consistent and strategically aligned model with greater focus on commercial value, strategic sourcing, governance, supplier performance and risk management.
As Strategic Procurement Business Partner, you will play an important role in connecting business requirements with the wider global Procurement strategy.
You will partner with senior stakeholders to understand commercial and operational priorities, translate these into effective procurement strategies and work closely with global Category Managers and Procurement leadership to ensure successful execution.
This is a highly visible role requiring someone comfortable operating within a complex multinational environment, influencing across functions and geographies rather than simply managing transactional procurement activity.
Key responsibilities:
- Partner with senior business stakeholders to understand strategic priorities and translate these into effective procurement and sourcing strategies
- Operate as a key interface between business teams, regional stakeholders and the wider global Procurement organisation
- Support the development and execution of strategic sourcing and category initiatives across a complex international organisation
- Work closely with global Category Managers to align procurement strategies with regional and business requirements
- Lead and support complex sourcing, supplier selection and commercial negotiation activity
- Identify opportunities to consolidate fragmented spend and leverage the organisation's global scale
- Drive measurable commercial value through cost optimisation, demand management, supplier performance and strategic sourcing
- Improve procurement governance, compliance and adoption of preferred suppliers and commercial agreements
- Support the implementation of new procurement processes, systems and standardised ways of working
- Provide market and supplier intelligence to support category and sourcing strategies
- Manage complex stakeholder relationships across different functions, seniority levels and geographies
- Support the wider transformation of Procurement from a transactional function towards a more strategic business partner
Experience required:
We are specifically looking for candidates with experience operating within a sophisticated, strategic Procurement environment.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong experience within strategic sourcing, category management or procurement business partnering
- Experience working within a large multinational or global matrix organisation
- Exposure to international, regional or global Procurement structures
- Experience managing complex sourcing initiatives and commercial negotiations
- Strong stakeholder management capability, including influencing senior business stakeholders
- Experience working collaboratively with global or regional Category Management teams
- A strong understanding of category strategy, strategic sourcing, supplier management and commercial value creation
- Experience supporting procurement transformation, governance or process improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical and commercial capability
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Candidates whose experience is predominantly transactional purchasing, purchase order processing, expediting or operational buying are unlikely to be suited to this position.
Industry background is flexible. Experience within chemicals, manufacturing or another complex international organisation would be beneficial, but the priority is finding someone who understands strategic Procurement within a global matrix structure and can successfully operate across multiple stakeholders, functions and geographies.
