Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Static Equipment Design role based in Chennai. The role involves designing, reviewing, and optimizing static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping components for advanced water and wastewater treatment facilities. Responsibilities include preparing design calculations, specifications, and datasheets; coordinating with process, mechanical, civil, and project teams to ensure equipment designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements; and supporting vendor selection and technical bid evaluations. The position also includes reviewing fabrication drawings, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards, addressing technical queries from suppliers and construction teams, and providing troubleshooting support during installation, commissioning, and operation. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, cost-effective, and sustainable equipment designs aligned with Gradiant’s project and client objectives.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance to ensure reliable operation of static equipment over its lifecycle.
- Experience working with heavy equipment and related components used in industrial water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Ability to apply troubleshooting skills to diagnose equipment issues and support resolution during installation, commissioning, and operation.
- Focus on customer satisfaction, with the ability to translate client requirements into practical equipment design solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (such as ASME, API, TEMA, and related industrial norms).
- Proficiency in engineering design and analysis tools (e.g., CAD software, FEA tools, and equipment sizing software).
- Strong technical documentation skills and attention to detail for preparing calculations, specifications, and reports.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
- Experience in water, wastewater, or process industries is an advantage.
