Position Summary
Responsible for sourcing goods and services requiring application of advanced purchasing principles, theories and concepts. Prepares, negotiates, issues, and manages agreements to minimize risk, reduce costs, and ensure best value continuity of supply.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement Category/Commodity Strategies to minimize risk, reduce costs, and ensure best value continuity of supply. Includes spend aggregation, and supplier consolidation, rationalization, and segmentation.
- Should costing / Zero Base costing for Every Projects prior to award to the suppliers.
- Execute RFQ process: prepare RFQs, evaluate quotes, compare should-cost models, and recommend suppliers.
- Manage supplier onboarding: coordinate vendor registration, NDA, PPAP requirements, and initial audits
- Supplier development & quality support: coordinate supplier capability assessments, CAPA follow-up, and day‑to‑day QA interactions (ISIR, PPAP witness).
- Negotiate Strategic Agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions.
- Focal point within the assigned Category for supplier performance risk escalation.
- Leverage and manage supplier relationships to create a competitive advantage. Works with suppliers on Continuous Improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of market conditions and industry trends related to assigned Category.
- Identifies and develops alternate sources of supply. Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates capabilities. May complete supplier certification as part of a technical and/or quality team.
- Applies Continuous Improvement techniques to internal procurement processes and systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensures all key stakeholders are actively involved in the solicitation, negotiation, and award process.
- Mentors and trains new team members as needed. Actively participates in High Performance Teams to improve value stream performance
Key Accountability
- Strategic sourcing and supplier selection , Deflation Saving
- Own end-to-end sourcing for assigned categories (global requirement alignment, , supplier evaluation and selection) to secure best total cost, quality and lead time for worldwide divisions.
- Typical Meet Deflation Saving KPIs: $ cost savings vs. target, time-to-contract.
- Contract negotiation and management
- Negotiate and administer commercial and technical contracts (pricing, SLAs, warranties, incoterms) and maintain contract repository to protect company interests and enable consistent global deployment.
- Typical KPIs: LTA%, PPI
- Supplier performance, development and risk mitigation
- Monitor and manage supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost, CSR), support corrective actions, and develop alternative sources to minimize supply risk and ensure continuity for global operations.
- Typical KPI PPAP , SRPPM, number of dual sources for critical parts, supplier audit completion.
- Cross‑functional stakeholder management and global coordination
- Act as primary sourcing liaison for engineering, operations, quality and procurement teams across regions; translate local sourcing capability into global standards and ensure timely alignment with design and production schedules.
- Compliance, local market intelligence and continuous improvement
- Ensure sourcing activities comply with corporate policies, trade/export controls, local regulations and sustainability requirements; leverage India market knowledge to drive value (cost, lead time, innovation) and implement procurement best practices.
Qualifications
- BE Mechanical / Production or equivalent
- Professional Certification – ASCM (APICS) or ISM preferred
- Minimum 10–15 years of hands-on experience in supplier development and sourcing for castings, forgings, aluminum, and precision components.
