Role Overview
We are seeking a Shopify App Developer with 1–3 years of experience to join our app development team. The ideal candidate will build, maintain, and scale Shopify public apps and custom apps on the MERN stack, working across the full lifecycle — from development and API integration to deployment and merchant support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Shopify public apps and custom client apps using Node.js, Express, React, and MongoDB (Shopify Node app template)
- Integrate deeply with the Shopify platform: GraphQL Admin API, webhooks, OAuth and session tokens, Billing API, meta fields, and Shopify Functions
- Build embedded app UIs using App Bridge and Polaris that meet Shopify App Store design and quality standards
- Develop Theme App Extensions and storefront-facing widgets for merchant stores
- Understand client requirements, find solutions within the Shopify ecosystem, and provide estimates to the project management team
- Deploy and manage applications on AWS EC2 with PM2, participating in continuous deployment workflows
- Handle app support tickets, debug production issues, and communicate resolutions to merchants and clients
- Write clean, maintainable code with proper Git workflows, PR reviews, and documentation
- Ensure apps pass Shopify App Store review requirements (GDPR webhooks, billing compliance, performance benchmarks)
- Stay updated with Shopify platform updates, API version changes, and e-commerce industry trends
Required Qualification
- Experience: 1–3 years of professional experience in full-stack development, with at least 1 year building Shopify apps (public or custom)
- Shopify Expertise: Strong understanding of the Shopify app ecosystem — OAuth flow, GraphQL Admin API, REST Admin API, webhooks, app proxies, and the Shopify Node/React app template. Familiarity with App Bridge, Polaris, and App Store submission requirements.
- Backend: Solid proficiency in Node.js and Express - REST API design, middleware, authentication, and error handling
- Frontend: Strong knowledge of React (hooks, state management), JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3
- Database: Hands-on experience with MongoDB (schema design, indexing, aggregation)
- Version Control: Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (feature branches, PRs)
- Debugging: Ability to troubleshoot issues across the stack - from browser to server logs to database
