Company: Swades AI — India’s First Applied AI Lab
Location: India, remote/hybrid
Type: Full-time
About the opportunitySwades AI is building a founder-led media brand around two Indian brothers building an AI business in New York City.
We are looking for a Senior YouTube Video Editor who has worked with a serious creator, influencer, celebrity, podcast, or founder-led channel. You should understand that great editing is not simply clean cuts, captions, and motion graphics—it is the construction of attention, emotion, clarity, and story.
You will edit long-form YouTube episodes and help translate them into high-performing short-form content.
What you will own- Edit founder stories, business videos, AI explainers, interviews, and documentary-style episodes.
- Find the strongest narrative inside unscripted founder footage.
- Build compelling openings without using misleading clickbait.
- Improve pacing, clarity, emotional progression, and audience retention.
- Identify and remove repetition, weak explanations, and unnecessary sections.
- Use B-roll, music, sound design, graphics, screenshots, and animation intentionally.
- Collaborate on titles and thumbnail concepts before the final edit.
- Create platform-native cut-downs for Shorts, Reels, and LinkedIn.
- Review retention graphs and identify editing patterns that caused viewers to continue or leave.
- Maintain organized project files, footage, versions, and feedback.
- Help establish Swades AI’s editing language and visual system.
You are likely a fit if- You have edited for an established YouTuber, influencer, celebrity, podcast, or founder-led channel.
- Your portfolio demonstrates storytelling—not only flashy transitions.
- You understand hooks, open loops, pattern interruption, pacing, retention, and payoff.
- You can edit fluent English content and understand Indian and international cultural references.
- You have experience with founder, business, educational, documentary, or personality-led content.
- You can explain why an edit worked using both creative reasoning and performance data.
- You are comfortable receiving direct feedback and iterating quickly.
- You have strong command of Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, or an equivalent professional workflow.
What we do not want- Generic talking-head edits filled with excessive captions and stock effects.
- Editors who optimize only for visual intensity.
- Applications containing group showreels without identifying the candidate’s contribution.
- Editors unable to explain their narrative decisions.
- Portfolios consisting exclusively of advertisements, wedding films, or cinematic montages without dialogue-driven storytelling.
How to applyPlease submit:
- Three to five videos you personally edited.
- Your exact contribution to each video.
- The names of creators or channels you have worked with.
- Any available retention, watch-time, or performance results.
- A short explanation of the strongest opening you have edited and why it worked.
- Your editing software, hardware setup, availability, and typical turnaround time.
Shortlisted candidates will receive the same raw footage and complete a paid editing trial. We will evaluate story judgment, hook strength, pacing, restraint, sound, visual clarity, and responsiveness to feedback.
What success looks likeWithin the first 90 days, you will have:
- Established a recognizable editing style for the founders.
- Created a reliable long-form production workflow.
- Improved opening retention and average view duration across successive releases.
- Built reusable project templates without making the content feel formulaic.
- Developed a repeatable process for extracting short-form clips from every long-form production.
