About the Role
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will lead the process design, engineering evaluation, and technical optimization of wastewater treatment projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of comprehensive engineering packages, validating process calculations, approving technical drawings, and mentoring junior process engineers. You will work closely with the Head of Projects, site execution teams, vendors, and clients to ensure all projects meet operational, regulatory, and quality standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Tender Strategy & Process Selection: Lead the technical review of tender documents and client specifications to establish optimal process schemes and treatment philosophies.
• Engineering Deliverables Approval: Lead, create, and approve Basic Engineering Packages (BEP) and Detailed Engineering Packages (DEP), including process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and mass balances.
• Drawing & Design Oversight: Review and approve process drawings, ensuring seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation details in General Arrangement Drawings (GAD).
• Advanced Process Calculations: Perform and validate complex process design calculations, including air grid sizing, aeration requirements, hydraulic profiles, and equipment sizing.
• Vendor & Inter-departmental Leadership: Define equipment working philosophies, evaluate vendor technical bids, and coordinate with site, erection, and project management teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Commissioning & Troubleshooting: Lead plant commissioning, water run trials, and process performance testing, serving as the technical expert for site troubleshooting.
• Team Leadership & Quality Assurance: Supervise, review, and mentor Junior Process Engineers to ensure strict adherence to quality control and design standards.
Key Authority
• Process Finalization: Finalize and sign off on plant treatment processes in direct coordination with the Project Head.
• Document Approval & Issuance: Authorize and approve all process-related engineering documents, calculations, and technical drawings for project execution.
Qualifications & Skills
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech) in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Experience: 6–10 years of experience in process engineering and design, specifically within the water and wastewater treatment industry (STP, ETP, CETP, MBR, MBBR).
• Technical & Managerial Skills:
o Advanced expertise in water treatment process design, mass balance, hydraulics, and aeration design.
o Strong proficiency in CAD software, process modeling tools, and standard engineering software.
o Proven leadership, project coordination, and client-facing communication skills.
