Vertelo is an ‘Integrated Fleet Electrification Solution’ Provider backed by Macquarie and Green Climate Fund.
We aim to accelerate the transition of fleets to electric vehicles and build a robust EV ecosystem by offering bespoke solutions to customers including leasing and financing, charging infrastructure and energy solutions, fleet management services, and end of vehicle life management.
Vertelo has successfully raised US$405 million to accelerate its fleet electrification platform in India.
The funding was led by the Green Climate Fund (“GCF”) as the primary investor, whose initial commitment of $US200 million enabled the participation of institutional investors contributing to other $US205 million.
Overall, Vertelo plans to invest $US 1.5 billion over 10 years with the aim to achieve a potential greenhouse gas emissions reduction of ~9.5 MtCO2e.

At Vertelo, we are building a strong legal and compliance framework to support our ambitious growth plans and ensure robust governance across all business functions. To strengthen our team, we are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Legal Manager with a strong foundation in corporate and commercial law, particularly within the NBFC, automotive, or leasing sectors.
About the Role: This role will be responsible for managing legal matters related to our business operations, including contract drafting and negotiation, legal advisory, compliance with regulatory frameworks, and supporting key transactions. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in legal documentation and regulatory compliance within the NBFC or leasing environment and possess the ability to partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Contracts & Transactions
- Draft, vet, and negotiate operating lease agreements, annual maintenance contracts, supply/OEM agreements, master service agreements, charging infrastructure agreements, EPC contracts, Operation and Maintenance contracts, MoUs, NDAs, and term sheets
- Handle end-to-end transaction documentation for vehicle leasing, charging infra partnerships, and fleet management contracts
- Collaborate with internal teams (finance, business, credit, ops) for structuring transactions
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws – Companies Act, RBI/SEBI regulations (if NBFC), motor vehicle laws, environmental norms, FAME/PLI schemes, etc.
- Support policy implementation
Legal Risk & Governance
- Identify legal risks across the value chain – from procurement to customer onboarding
- Maintain contract database, contingent liability register, intellectual property rights management and compliance checklist
- Support due diligence and investor/lender legal queries
Competencies:
- Experience in operating lease, asset financing, NBFC documentation, and regulatory frameworks (RBI, MCA, SEBI)
- Strong experience in contract drafting, transaction negotiation, and legal due diligence
- Knowledge of corporate law, contract law, concepts of operating and financial leases
- Familiarity with EV ecosystem (OEM/vendor contracts, charging infra, PLI, FAME, green mobility regulations) is preferred
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a small but growing team in a start-up style / dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety concepts and principles to all levels of the organization
Education and work experience::
- LL.B. from a reputed law school/university (mandatory)
- LL.M. and/or CS qualification (preferred but not mandatory)
- 8–10 years of relevant legal experience, including minimum 2 years of law firm experience or in house experience of NBFC/automotive/leasing sector exposure.
