Role Description The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor Sub Sea is a full-time role responsible for planning, executing, and supervising hydrographic and subsea survey operations, primarily within marine and coastal environments. This hybrid role is based in Mumbai, with flexibility for some work from home depending on project needs and operational requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing survey campaigns, overseeing data acquisition from survey vessels and platforms, and ensuring accurate data processing, quality control, and integration into geospatial and modeling systems. The role involves coordinating with project managers, engineers, and clients to define survey specifications, prepare technical documentation, and deliver high-quality charts, maps, and digital outputs. The Senior Hydrographic Surveyor Sub Sea also mentors junior survey staff, maintains survey equipment, and supports continuous improvement in methods, safety standards, and technological adoption.
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in Hydrographic Survey and Sub Sea survey operations, including planning, execution, and quality assurance.
- Hands-on experience with Dredging-related surveys, including volume calculations, monitoring dredging progress, and supporting marine construction projects.
- Strong skills in Data Acquisition using modern survey instruments (e.g., multibeam echo sounders, GNSS, motion sensors) and adherence to industry standards.
- Proficiency in Data Processing, validation, and analysis using hydrographic and geospatial software, with a focus on accurate charting and modeling.
- Working knowledge of Land Surveying principles to support integration of terrestrial and marine datasets and coastal mapping activities.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Hydrography, Geomatics, Surveying, Civil/Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with international hydrographic standards and best practices (e.g., IHO guidelines) and marine safety regulations.
- Ability to lead survey teams, manage field operations, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
