ValEV is building South India's most reliable high-speed EV charging network. Operated by Val Energy Private Limited, we are deploying DC fast-charging stations along major highways and transit corridors, starting in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and expanding across South India.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to join us immediately.
You will be responsible for the development of our charging stations, from the first site visit to the day the station starts charging vehicles. That covers assessing the location, designing what goes there, preparing the technical documents for approvals, getting the work executed on the ground, and keeping the station running once it is live.
This is a hands-on role. You will spend a significant part of your time at sites, not at a desk.
Job Responsibilities
- Assess sites and confirm what it takes to build a station there, including cost and feasibility
- Prepare electrical designs, site layouts, single line diagrams and load calculations
- Specify power distribution, protection and earthing arrangements for each station
- Identify what approvals each site needs and prepare the technical documents for them
- Assist the team take applications forward with the electricity board and the Electrical Inspectorate
- Prepare material lists and specifications, review vendor quotes, and inspect material on delivery
- Appoint and supervise local civil and electrical contractors, and enforce safety at site
- Verify contractor work and bills against what was actually completed
- Run pre commissioning tests and see the station through to switch on
- Troubleshoot faults at site and take care of station maintenance and uptime once live
The responsibilities listed here are not exhaustive. This role carries end to end responsibility for getting each station built and running.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in electrical contracting, substation, industrial, solar or similar construction projects
- Diploma, B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics
- Direct involvement in at least one project with a dedicated transformer and a high voltage connection, from drawing stage through to switch on
- Working knowledge of switchgear, transformers, cabling, earthing and protection systems
- Familiarity with electricity board and Electrical Inspectorate procedures
- Able to prepare drawings independently, AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software required
- Able to explain technical matters clearly to people without an electrical background
- Telugu and English mandatory, Hindi is a bonus
- Valid driving licence
Preferred, not mandatory:
- Own vehicle
- Electrical Supervisor Certificate of Competency, or an electrical contractor licence
- Experience with EV charging, solar or utility projects
Working Conditions
- Full time and on-site in Hyderabad. This is not a work from home role
- Travel to project sites as assigned, with travel and stay fully covered by ValEV
- Available to respond immediately when something comes up at a site
Compensation
₹4 to 5 LPA, plus full coverage of travel and stay for all site visits
