Job Description
Position: Senior Electrical Engineer
Experience: 5–10 Years
Department: Projects / Engineering
Location: South India
Reporting To: Project Manager / Engineering Head
Responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing electrical installation and project activities at site, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and as per approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute electrical installation and project activities as per approved drawings and project schedules.
- Supervise electrical works including power distribution, cabling, cable trays, lighting, earthing, panels, transformers, motors, and other electrical systems.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, consultants, civil/mechanical teams, and internal departments for smooth execution.
- Review electrical drawings, SLDs, layouts, specifications, BOQs, and technical documents.
- Monitor manpower, material availability, tools, and equipment required for project execution.
- Ensure electrical works are carried out as per approved drawings, applicable standards, and safety requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor the quality and progress of electrical installation works.
- Identify site issues, technical challenges, and deviations and coordinate with the concerned teams for timely resolution.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
- Prepare and maintain daily/weekly progress reports, material statements, inspection reports, and other project documentation.
- Monitor contractor performance, work progress, and productivity.
- Ensure proper completion of punch points, testing records, as-built drawings, and project handover documentation.
- Coordinate with procurement and stores teams to ensure timely availability of electrical materials.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, PPE requirements, work permits, and statutory requirements.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide updates on progress, risks, delays, and resource requirements.
- Support estimation, quantity verification, material reconciliation, and measurement certification as required.
- Troubleshoot electrical installation and execution-related issues during project implementation.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical installation and project execution.
- Good understanding of HT/LT electrical systems, PCC/MCC panels, transformers, DG sets, cables, cable trays, lighting, earthing, and power distribution systems.
- Ability to read and interpret SLD, electrical layouts, schematics, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of testing and commissioning procedures for electrical systems.
- Experience in contractor and site management.
- Good knowledge of electrical safety practices and applicable standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD/Electrical design software will be an added advantage.
Education
B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Experience
5–10 years of relevant experience in electrical project execution/site execution, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, infrastructure, or engineering environment.
