About the role
Own India payroll end to end for a 150-person AI startup in Bengaluru. This is not a steady-state processing seat: the entity is young, statutory compliance is still being put on a proper footing, and the first audited financial statements are ahead of us.
What you will own:
- Full monthly payroll cycle in Zoho Payroll for ~150 people, new joiners, arrears and full and final settlements
- EPF and EPFO filings, Professional Tax, ESI, TDS on salaries - challans paid and evidenced on time
- Clearing an existing statutory catch-up backlog in your first quarter
- Audit-ready evidence: payroll registers, challans, reconciliations, per-employee statutory records
- Form 16, Form 24Q, investment declarations and proofs
- Monthly reconciliation of payroll to the books
- Managing the payroll calculation vendor, the CA firm and the EPF consultant
What we are looking for:
- 4 to 7 years running India payroll end to end, at least 2 as primary owner
- Hands-on with EPFO portal, PT payment portals, TDS challans and Form 24Q - not just handing data to a consultant
- Zoho Payroll, Keka, Darwinbox, greytHR or RazorpayX Payroll
- Has cleaned up a compliance backlog or carried payroll through a statutory audit
- Bengaluru, in office
