Work Model: Hybrid (3 days in office and 2 days WFH per week)
The ADAPT-TB project aims to improve the diagnosis of pediatric tuberculosis in India by evaluating the use of non-invasive, child-friendly specimens (stool, tongue swabs and urine) along with other routine samples across multiple indigenous molecular diagnostic platforms in the TB diagnostic landscape.
The project will be implemented across 11 tertiary care facilities across India in close collaboration with the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), and stakeholders at the national, state and district levels. The study will generate evidence on diagnostic accuracy and operational feasibility to inform national scale-up.
The Project Manager will provide overall project management support for the implementation of Project ADAPT-TB, including day-to-day coordination with participating sites, monitoring project progress, review of operational and data-related outputs, and reporting to project leadership and key stakeholders. The incumbent will lead coordination across all project sites, ensure achievement of project milestones and documentation requirements, and support effective implementation in accordance with donor requirements and organizational standards.
The specific activities will include but not be limited to:
- Develop, implement, and maintain project workplans, workflows, monitoring tools, and tracking systems to support effective project execution.
- Coordinate and oversee implementation of project activities across all participating sites, ensuring timely delivery of outputs and outcomes.
- Monitor project progress against established milestones, deliverables, budgets, and timelines, and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Lead coordination with tertiary institutes, state health authorities, manufacturers, research partners, and other key stakeholders to facilitate smooth project implementation.
- Provide technical and operational support to project sites and ensure adherence to approved protocols and implementation plans.
- Facilitate and coordinate regulatory approvals, including HMSC, IEC, and other relevant clearances in collaboration with participating institutions.
- Ensure standardization and quality assurance of project processes, including validation of sample processing techniques and data management procedures.
- Organize and lead project meetings, trainings, workshops, and stakeholder consultations.
- Supervise, mentor, and support project staff, fostering high performance, accountability, and teamwork.
- Ensure timely collection, review, validation, and reporting of project data from all participating sites.
- Manage project resources efficiently and support budget monitoring to maximize project outputs and impact.
- Track and maintain project documentation, records, and compliance requirements in accordance with donor and organizational guidelines.
- Prepare high-quality project reports, donor updates, presentations, briefs, and other communication materials.
- Serve as the primary focal point for coordination between project leadership, implementation sites, donors, technical experts, and external stakeholders.
- Support donor visits, monitoring missions, audits, external evaluations, and project reviews.
- Identify implementation challenges and proactively develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by project leadership from time to time.
Experience/Skills required
- Master’s degree in Public Health, PhD Microbiology, Health Management, or a related discipline;
- 7-10 years of progressive experience managing large-scale public health programs and multi-state projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing multidisciplinary teams, including setting priorities, performance management, mentoring, and capacity building.
- Proven experience working with donor-funded programs, government stakeholders, implementing partners, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, implementation, monitoring, budgeting, risk management, and donor reporting.
- Experience in TB, diagnostics, surveillance, laboratory systems, or broader health systems strengthening programs is highly desirable.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, coordination, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to effectively supervise and guide State Coordinators, technical staff, and project teams across multiple locations.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with virtual training, webinar, and collaboration platforms.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to foster teamwork and drive results in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Willingness to undertake frequent travel across project states and partner locations.
Nature of Appointment:
This is a full-time position with an initial contract term until 31 March 2027, renewable subject to performance and project needs.
