Role summary
Coordinate and maintain IT infrastructure and technical workflows supporting a VFX
studio’s artists, pipelines, and production teams to ensure secure, performant, and reliable
operations.
Key responsibilities
co-ordinate between IO, systems, security, render and data wrangling teams
Assist in managing studio IT systems: servers, NAS, workstations, render nodes,
networking (LAN/WAN), VPN, and cloud services.
Over see systems team to support artist workstations and software (Nuke, Houdini,
Maya, Blender, Katana, Mari, Substance, etc.): install, license, troubleshoot, and
optimize.
Maintain and administer render farm and job-queue systems including node
provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Oversee storage architecture and data integrity: backups, snapshots, tiering,
replication, and recovery procedures for project data.
Maintain and document pipeline tools & integrations: assist pipeline devs with
deployment, versioning, and environment configuration.
User support: provide 1st/2nd-line support for artists and production (ticketing,
SLAs, onboarding/offboarding, account and permissions management).
Coordinate with vendors and cloud providers for software licensing, hardware
procurement, and support escalations.
Assist in pipeline automation: scripting for environment setup, deployment, and
routine maintenance.
Monitor system health and performance; produce capacity forecasts and
recommend hardware/software upgrades.
Maintain documentation: runbooks, SOPs, asset inventories, network diagrams, and
disaster-recovery plans.
Training: create and deliver technical onboarding and periodic training for artists
and production staff.
Maintain compliance with studio policies, licensing agreements, and relevant
regulations.
Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in any relevant, or equivalent experience.
3+ years production coordination experience, ideally within
media/VFX/animation/post-production.
Familiarity with render farm managers
Strong communication and team building skills
Knowledge of common VFX apps and formats and pipeline concepts (asset/version
control, DBs, task trackers).
Good troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills; able to work under
production deadlines.
Desired skills
Experience with VFX pipeline tools
Experience with storage performance tuning and fabrics (10/25/40/100GbE).
Familiarity with automation/orchestration tools
Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance (TPN, SOC2) and backup/DR
solutions.
