Job details:
A new material does not succeed in a laboratory. It succeeds on a mill floor, when a spinning master decides whether it is worth another run.
Altag® has already crossed that test with some of the finest manufacturing partners in the world. Now we need someone to own that entire path, from the moment our fiber leaves us, through spinning, weaving, knitting and processing, and into the specification sheet of a global brand.
This is a role for someone who is technical and commercial at the same time. You will not be relaying messages between a mill and a brand. You will be the person who understands why the blend is
behaving the way it is, and who can say so clearly to both of them.
What do you bring?
Build and manage the conversion network
- Identify, onboard, and develop spinning, weaving, knitting, and processing partners capable of running Altag® blends at commercial scale
- Build the process knowledge base for each partner: parameters, settings, and known constraints per blend and count
Drive product and fabric development
- Translate brand briefs into workable yarn counts, blend ratios, and fabric constructions
- Run developments end-to-end: brief → sampling → approval → bulk and improve development-to-order conversion
Own technical trials and troubleshooting
- Plan and supervise spinning and weaving trials; document parameters and outcomes
- Diagnose and resolve process issues: blend uniformity, neps, ends-down, dye uptake, shrinkage, hand feel, finishing behaviour
Engage brands and mills technically
- Work with brand design, sourcing and material teams to get Altag® written into specifications and tech packs
- Handle technical queries, test reports and compliance documentation
Manage execution and quality
- Hold the TNA across the chain and protect delivery commitments
- Ensure bulk conforms to approved samples; own test protocols and claim resolution
- Track cost and realisation at each conversion stage
Close the loop with R&D
- Feed structured mill and brand learning back into our fibre development
- Maintain technical dossiers, datasheets and processing guidelines
What are we looking for?
- 5 - 10 years in textile value chain roles: merchandising, product development, technical services, or mill-side production, with meaningful exposure to both mills and brands
- A textile technology background (B.Tech Textile Technology, or equivalent depth earned on the floor)
- Technical fluency: you can read a yarn realisation report, discuss a weave construction, interpret a test report, and hold your own in a technical conversation with a spinning master. Experience with natural fibres and blends; comfort with bast materials
- Track record of taking a development from concept to commercial bulk
- Willingness to travel to mills and brand offices regularly
- Clear written and spoken English; ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
- Network of textile mills and brands globally
- Engage with brands, understand their requirements and translate them for the mills/manufacturers
Nice to Have
- Experience with regenerative, recycled and natural fibres (hemp, flax, banana, cotton, recycled cellulosics)
- Exposure to sustainability certifications, traceability systems and lifecycle claims
- Relationships across Indian spinning and weaving clusters
- Experience working with international brand sourcing teams
