Job details:
Company Description Amsel Engineering focuses on creating precision-driven solutions that emphasize clarity, purpose, and practical impact. The organization is guided by the principle “Keep it simple, complexity isn’t the point,” which shapes its approach to engineering, communication, and problem-solving. By removing unnecessary complexity and concentrating on what truly matters, Amsel designs products and systems that perform reliably in real-world conditions. The team is committed to merging elegant design with practical execution, ensuring that every solution reflects thoughtful simplicity and enduring quality.
Role Description The Powertrain Calibrator will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing engine and powertrain control parameters to achieve targeted performance, efficiency, and emissions objectives. Day-to-day activities include working with calibration tools and diagnostic equipment, analyzing test data, adjusting calibration maps, and validating changes through bench and vehicle testing. The role involves close collaboration with design, controls, and testing teams to address drivability concerns, troubleshoot issues, and support release documentation. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Trivandrum, with a mix of on-site work in test facilities and offices, and some work-from-home flexibility for analysis, documentation, and meetings.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong powertrain calibration and engine control skills, including experience with ECU calibration, fuel, air, ignition, and torque management strategies.
- Candidates should possess solid data analysis and testing skills, including use of measurement tools, data logging, and interpretation of dyno and vehicle test results.
- Candidates should possess fundamental mechanical and automotive engineering knowledge, including thermodynamics, combustion, emissions, and drivetrain systems.
- Candidates should possess proficiency with relevant software tools, such as calibration and diagnostic platforms, data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB or similar), and office productivity software.
- Candidates should possess strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to document findings clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering field (or equivalent practical experience) is preferred; prior experience in powertrain development or motorsport engineering is an advantage.
- Candidates should possess the ability to work safely and systematically in lab and test environments, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
