Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Phlebotomist role based in Kochi. The Phlebotomist will perform safe and accurate blood collection procedures, including venipuncture and capillary sampling, following established protocols and infection control standards. Daily tasks include preparing collection materials, verifying patient identity, explaining procedures, labeling and handling specimens, and ensuring timely dispatch to partnered laboratories or diagnostic centers. The role involves maintaining clean and organized work areas, documenting procedures in electronic or paper systems, supporting medical staff with basic clinical tasks, and delivering courteous, empathetic service to all patients. The Phlebotomist will collaborate with the wider healthcare team to uphold quality, safety, and patient satisfaction standards.
Qualifications
- Strong blood collection skills, including venipuncture and capillary sampling, with attention to patient comfort and safety.
- Proficiency in core laboratory skills such as specimen handling, labeling, storage, and adherence to infection control and quality standards.
- Knowledge of medical assisting practices, including basic clinical support, vital sign measurement, and patient preparation.
- Understanding of medical terminology and foundational medicine concepts relevant to phlebotomy and diagnostic testing.
- Completed phlebotomy training or certification from a recognized institution; a diploma or degree in medical laboratory technology or allied health is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Phlebotomist or in a clinical laboratory, hospital, or diagnostic center setting is an advantage.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to follow protocols, maintain accurate records, manage time efficiently, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
