This individual will focus on design and development of vacuum sub-systems, nebulization, and flow control components, ensuring reliable and precise performance under demanding operating conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, model, and validate mechanical subsystems related to fluid and gas flow within spectrometer instruments.
- Develop and test components for vacuum generation and maintenance, including selection of compatible materials.
- Design nebulizer systems capable of producing small, uniform droplets, and integrate electronic control for consistent performance.
- Design and integrate pumps and valves with electronic control interfaces.
- Develop heat management and thermal dissipation strategies for sensitive optical and electronic components.
- Collaborate with electrical, optical, and software engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including design specifications, tolerances, and test protocols.
- Support prototyping, bench testing, and iterative design refinement through DFM/DFA principles.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong foundation in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical design.
- Experience with CAD tools and mechanical simulation/analysis software.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a multidisciplinary hardware development environment.
Preferred / Plus Experience
- Experience creating and maintaining vacuum-level pressures, including relevant materials management.
- Experience designing nebulizers for small, uniform droplet generation with electronic control.
- Experience with pumps and valves, including electronic control integration.
- Experience in heat management and thermal design for compact instrumentation.
