Mechanical Design Engineer (1–2 Years Experience)
Location: Chennai ( Work From Office )
About The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Product Development team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in CAD modeling, sheet metal design, and prototype development. You will work closely with electronics, firmware, and software teams to develop innovative healthcare kiosk products from concept to production.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Design sheet metal enclosures, brackets, mounts, and assemblies.
- Develop products from concept through prototype to production.
- Perform mechanical fitment, tolerance stack-up, and interference analysis.
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing documentation.
- Support prototype assembly, testing, and design improvements.
- Work closely with electrical, embedded, and software teams for product integration.
- Resolve manufacturing and assembly issues through design modifications.
- Coordinate with vendors for fabrication, machining, sheet metal, and prototype development.
Required Skills
- 1–2 years of experience in mechanical product design.
- Proficiency in FreeCAD (Mandatory).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (Preferred) or Autodesk Inventor/Fusion 360.
- Good knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of fasteners, bearings, hinges, and standard mechanical components.
- Ability to assemble, evaluate, and troubleshoot prototypes.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with healthcare devices, kiosks, industrial equipment, or automation products.
- Basic understanding of vibration, structural strength, and enclosure design.
- Familiarity with 3D printing for rapid prototyping.
- Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
Nice to Have
- Exposure to ISO documentation and Engineering Change Management (ECN/ECO) processes.
