Role Description The Manager – Custom Broker is a full-time, on-site role based in Ghatkopar, responsible for overseeing all customs brokerage activities for import and export shipments. This role manages customs documentation, classification, valuation, and compliance with current regulations and statutory requirements. The manager coordinates with customs authorities, clients, and internal operations teams to ensure timely clearance of shipments and resolution of any regulatory or operational issues. Daily responsibilities include supervising brokerage staff, reviewing and approving declarations, monitoring shipment status, and optimizing processes to reduce delays and costs. The role also involves building strong customer relationships, providing guidance on international trade regulations, and preparing periodic reports on customs operations and performance metrics.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in customs brokerage, including documentation, tariff classification, and regulatory compliance.
- Solid knowledge of import and export procedures, including licensing, duty/tax calculations, and shipment clearance.
- Understanding of international trade practices and regulations, including Incoterms and relevant trade agreements.
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to manage client expectations and resolve issues promptly.
- Experience leading or supervising teams in a logistics, freight forwarding, or customs brokerage environment.
- Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with customs and logistics software systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with external authorities and internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, international business, commerce, or a related field; relevant professional certifications in customs or trade compliance are an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in Kurla and manage time-critical operations in a high-pressure environment.
