Key Responsibilities
1. Gig & Platform Worker Compliance (primary focus)
• Track and map obligations under the Code on Social Security, 2020 and the Code on Social Security (Central) Rules, 2026 - aggregator classification, Schedule 7 categories, worker registration timelines
• Support the e-Shram registration and API-linkage workstream: documentation, portal filings, record-keeping and status tracking
• Maintain the welfare-fund contribution calendar (provisional assessment - Form XX; annual return - Form XXI) and prepare supporting workings with the finance team (if applicable)
• Track state-level platform worker legislation (Karnataka cess in force; Maharashtra in the pipeline; UP and other Tier 2/3 expansion states) and flag changes as they are notified
2. Data Protection & Privacy
• Assist in building and maintaining DPDP Act, 2023 compliance artefacts: consent notices, purpose-limitation and retention schedules, data-principal rights process, breach-response playbook
• Support KYC and identity-verification compliance, including UIDAI norms on voluntary Aadhaar use, alternative ID acceptance, and masking / token-based storage
• Maintain the sub-processor register and assist with Data Processing Agreements and vendor privacy diligence
3. Contracts & Documentation
• Draft and review Partner (independent contractor) Agreements, service agreements, NDAs, MSAs, internship and employment documents
• Assist with vendor agreement review and redlining, including API/KYC and technology vendors
• Maintain the contract repository, version control and execution tracker
4. Regulatory & Transactional Support
• Research GST treatment of platform-facilitated services, including Section 9(5) CGST Act e-commerce operator liability, and support the design of compliant pricing and invoicing for the home-services pilot
• Research RBI Payment Aggregator norms and support structuring of payment collection and payout flows through licensed partners
• Support compliance under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 - grievance officer framework, service-provider disclosure, redressal policy
• Assist with intellectual property filings (copyright, trade mark) and corporate secretarial documentation
5. Compliance Operations
• Build and maintain a consolidated compliance calendar across labour, data protection, tax and corporate filings
• Prepare concise research notes and issue summaries for the founding team
• Coordinate with external counsel on specialist opinions and track closure of advice received
Who We Are Looking ForEligibility
• Students in the 3rd year or above of a 5-year integrated LL.B. programme, or the 2nd year or above of a 3-year LL.B. programme; recent law graduates and Company Secretary students are also welcome to apply
• Available for a committed 6-month engagement of approximately 20-25 hours per week
