Role Description Interns in Community Waste Management at VIKASIT ECOSYSTEMS will support planning and implementation of local waste management and recycling initiatives in Bengaluru communities. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with waste audits, helping design and execute community outreach programs, and gathering data on waste streams and recycling practices. Interns will contribute to training sessions for households, institutions, and local stakeholders on sustainable waste handling, segregation, and recycling. Responsibilities also include collaborating with the team to document processes, prepare reports, and share insights that improve project outcomes. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Bengaluru, with a combination of on-site community engagement and some work-from-home for research, documentation, and coordination.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Waste Management and Solid Waste Management, with an interest in community-level implementation.
- Candidates should possess skills in Recycling and Environmental Science to support sustainable solutions and data-driven decision-making.
- Candidates should possess skills in Training, including the ability to assist in awareness sessions and educational programs for diverse audiences.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with community members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in field conditions in urban environments, handle basic data collection, and use productivity tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentations).
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability, circular economy, or environmental causes; prior volunteer or project experience is an advantage.
- Currently pursuing or having completed studies in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Social Work, or related fields is preferred.
