Integration Engineer – IICS & Boomi
Full Time | Chennai
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Integration Engineer to join the data team on a strategic account with an enterprise manufacturing client, working alongside our Data Architect and the wider engineering, integration, and BI team. This is a permanent, full-lifecycle role: you will design, build, maintain, and optimize integration services on the client's Boomi and IICS platforms, working within their established enterprise architecture and governance standards.
A major current initiative is consolidating a legacy Talend estate into Boomi and IICS. You will help rebuild and rationalize those services onto the right target platform - reliably, with proven output parity - and contribute technical tool-fit input to the assessment framework that decides the best target (Boomi vs IICS) for each service. But the role extends well beyond migration: as the estate consolidates, you own the ongoing health of the integration landscape - new service design, enhancements, production support, and performance and cost optimization.
The core skill is depth in the target platforms - Boomi and IICS. Talend familiarity is a strong accelerator for the consolidation work, but not a prerequisite: you'll be reading Talend to understand intent, not building new Talend.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Build:
· Design and implement integration services on Boomi and/or IICS, following the client's
architecture standards and integration patterns.
· Build integration flows, mappings, orchestrations, connectors, error handling, and scheduling.
· Enhance and extend existing services as business needs evolve.
· Own solution design decisions and communicate their trade-offs to technical and business
audiences.
Migration & Consolidation (current initiative):
· Rebuild legacy Talend integration services on Boomi and/or IICS.
· Reverse-engineer existing Talend jobs to establish their true behavior - business logic,
transformations, edge cases, and data handling - not just their surface intent.
· Partner with the team's existing Talend knowledge holder to validate understanding of legacy
services.
· Define and run parity / reconciliation testing to prove each rebuilt service matches its legacy
output; resolve source-to-target discrepancies.
· Contribute technical tool-fit input to the Boomi-vs-IICS assessment framework.
Maintenance & Optimization:
· Provide ongoing production support for built integration services - monitoring, troubleshooting,
and resolving issues.
· Optimize services for performance, reliability, and cost / consumption efficiency.
· Perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes.
· Maintain a prioritized backlog of improvements and technical debt.
Collaboration & Delivery:
· Work within the client's enterprise architecture, governance, and security standards.
· Coordinate with the Data Architect, platform, security, and business teams.
· Maintain clear documentation of services, designs, and support procedures.
Required Skills and Experience:
· Demonstrated depth as an integration / ETL engineer across the full lifecycle - design, build,
and ongoing maintenance (we are flexible on total years - see note above).
· Working knowledge of both Boomi and IICS, with genuine working knowledge of the other - or
a strong track record of ramping quickly onto an adjacent iPaaS platform.
· Strong integration fundamentals: mappings, transformations, orchestration, connectors, APIs,
error handling, and scheduling.
· Experience maintaining and optimizing integration services in production - performance,
reliability, and cost / consumption.
· Proven ability to reverse-engineer undocumented or lightly-documented integration jobs and
rebuild them faithfully.
· Discipline around validation - reconciliation and parity testing to confirm rebuilt services match
legacy behavior.
· Strong SQL.
· Comfortable working within, and delivering to, an established enterprise architecture and
governance framework.
· Clear communicator - able to explain technical decisions to both technical and business
audiences.
Preferred Skills:
· Talend experience - even at a read / maintenance level - to accelerate reverse-engineering of
the legacy estate.
· Strength in both Boomi and IICS.
· Experience with data platform migrations, consolidations, or replatforming.
· Familiarity with Snowflake and AWS data / platform services (the client's data estate sits on this
stack).
· Data governance, security, and role-based access concepts.
· Experience delivering into a large, standards-driven enterprise - ideally in manufacturing or a
comparable industrial / operational domain.
· Familiarity with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change-management processes.
Certifications (a plus - hands-on capability matters more):
· Boomi certification (Associate / Professional Developer / Architect)
· Informatica Cloud (IICS) certification
