Role Description The In House Counsel (Corporate) is a full-time remote role responsible for providing comprehensive legal support across Swades AI’s operations. This role manages and drafts a wide range of commercial and technology contracts, including vendor, client, licensing, and partnership agreements, ensuring that all terms align with company policies and risk tolerance. The counsel advises on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, data protection, intellectual property, and employment-related matters, and supports internal stakeholders with clear, actionable guidance. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and negotiating agreements, developing and updating legal policies, monitoring relevant legislative and regulatory changes, managing external counsel when needed, and contributing to training and awareness initiatives that promote legal best practices throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in corporate law, including contract drafting, negotiation, and review for technology or AI-focused organizations.
- Knowledge of data protection, privacy, and information security regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them to AI and software products.
- Familiarity with intellectual property law, especially as it relates to software, algorithms, content licensing, and research outputs.
- Background in regulatory compliance and corporate governance, including policy development and risk management.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and research skills, with attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, prioritize multiple matters, and work independently in a remote environment.
- Professional legal qualification (e.g., LLB or equivalent) and admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction; prior in-house counsel experience is highly beneficial.
- Interest in AI, technology, and innovation, with a willingness to continuously learn about emerging legal issues in these domains.
