Job Summary
URC Construction is looking for an experienced HVAC Design Manager to lead the HVAC design and engineering activities for large-scale EPC projects. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in HVAC system design, engineering calculations, equipment selection, design coordination, value engineering, technical reviews, and multidisciplinary MEP integration.
The role requires strong technical leadership and the ability to manage HVAC design activities from the concept and tender stage through detailed engineering, construction support, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the complete HVAC design and engineering function for large-scale EPC projects.
- Develop and review HVAC design concepts, design basis reports, technical specifications, calculations, drawings, and engineering deliverables.
- Perform and review:
- Heat load calculations
- Cooling and heating load analysis
- Airflow calculations
- Duct sizing and pressure drop calculations
- Chilled water piping calculations
- Pump head calculations
- Equipment sizing and selection
- Ventilation and pressurization calculations
- Design and review systems including chilled water systems, VRF/VRV systems, DX systems, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, smoke management, and pressurization systems.
- Lead the selection and technical evaluation of major HVAC equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, fans, heat exchangers, and related systems.
- Review HVAC layouts, schematics, P&IDs, equipment schedules, BOQs, technical specifications, and shop drawings.
- Ensure HVAC designs comply with relevant codes, standards, client specifications, statutory requirements, and project requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Architectural, Structural, Civil, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV, and BIM teams to resolve design interfaces and clashes.
- Lead design reviews, constructability reviews, technical workshops, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Drive value engineering and design optimization to achieve cost-effective, energy-efficient, and technically compliant solutions.
- Review vendor technical submissions, equipment datasheets, material submittals, and technical bid evaluations.
- Provide technical support to procurement, estimation, planning, and project execution teams.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams for timely design approvals and deliverables.
- Monitor the HVAC design schedule and ensure engineering deliverables are completed in line with the overall EPC project schedule.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, performance validation, and handover.
- Mentor and guide HVAC engineers and designers while ensuring quality and consistency of design deliverables.
Required Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 20–25 years of relevant experience in HVAC design and engineering.
- Strong experience in large-scale EPC / building projects.
- Proven experience in leading HVAC design teams and managing complex multidisciplinary design coordination.

Preferred Candidate Profile
- Strong experience in EPC construction projects.
- Excellent technical leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently lead HVAC design activities for multiple or complex projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and multidisciplinary coordination capabilities.
- Experience in large-scale projects such as Data Centers, Hospitals, Industrial Buildings, Commercial Buildings, Airports, Pharma, Clean Rooms, or other complex building projects will be an added advantage.
