Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Home Health Medical Coder at QB Tech Infosystems. The Home Health Medical Coder reviews clinical documentation for Home Health and Hospice services to assign accurate ICD-10 diagnosis codes and applicable procedure codes, following payer and regulatory guidelines. The role involves validating medical necessity, ensuring documentation supports coded services, and collaborating with clinical staff to clarify and improve documentation when needed. The coder participates in internal quality assurance processes, supports compliance and audit readiness, and helps optimize reimbursement through correct coding and adherence to RCM best practices. Daily responsibilities also include working within AI-enabled coding platforms, maintaining productivity and quality targets, and staying current with coding and regulatory updates.
Qualifications
- Coding expertise in Home Health and Hospice, including strong ICD-10 proficiency and familiarity with OASIS and payer-specific requirements.
- Knowledge of clinical documentation standards, documentation improvement practices, and quality assurance processes.
- Understanding of revenue cycle management concepts, including billing, reimbursement, and compliance with Medicare and other payer regulations.
- Ability to work effectively with AI-enabled coding tools, electronic health records, and other clinical information systems.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and attention-to-detail skills to interpret clinical narratives and apply accurate codes.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with clinicians and internal teams in a remote environment.
- Certification such as BCHHC, CPC or equivalent coding credential; Home Health/Hospice-specific certifications are a plus.
- Experience in Home Health or Hospice coding in a clinical or outsourced setting; exposure to compliance and audit processes is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload to meet productivity and quality benchmarks, and adapt to evolving regulations and workflows.
