Finance Head – Finance, Accounts & Compliance

About the RoleEuro International School is looking for an experienced Finance Head to take complete ownership of the organisation’s Finance & Accounts function.
The role will oversee accounting, banking, taxation, cash flow, P&L, fee reconciliation, vendor payments, salary processing, audits, statutory and institutional compliance, financial reporting and Finance team management.
The Finance Head will be expected to independently manage routine financial operations, ensure accuracy and compliance, lead the Finance team and coordinate with external stakeholders such as banks, CAs, auditors, consultants, vendors and government authorities.
A key expectation from this role is to ensure that the Director receives final, verified financial reports, important issues and recommended solutions, rather than being involved in day-to-day operational finance matters. The source workflow specifically identifies work allocation, monitoring, problem-solving, quality checking, final reporting and staff training as important Finance leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Finance & Accounting- Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
- Review cash book, daily collections, store collections, discounts and overall inflow/outflow.
- Review Tally entries, ledgers, suspense accounts and sundry creditors.
- Ensure proper reconciliation and accuracy of financial records.
- Prepare and review financial reports and P&L.
- Monitor financial performance and identify discrepancies or areas requiring corrective action.
2. Banking, Cash Flow & Payments- Manage banking operations, loans, FDs, DDs and bank accounts.
- Coordinate loan processing, foreclosure and bank ROI negotiations.
- Prepare and monitor cash-flow forecasts.
- Plan and prioritise payments based on cash availability.
- Review and authorise vendor payments as per approved processes.
- Maintain effective relationships with banks and financial stakeholders.
3. Taxation & Statutory Compliance- Oversee TDS challans, TDS verification and quarterly return filing.
- Ensure timely PF challan payments and coordinate with PF consultants.
- Coordinate PF inspections and related documentation.
- Ensure financial and statutory records are maintained accurately.
- Coordinate with CAs and tax consultants for compliance requirements.
4. Fee & Revenue Management- Review daily fee collection and fee reconciliation.
- Monitor fee defaulters and related follow-up processes.
- Review fee-defaulter notices/messages and escalated parent matters.
- Monitor vehicle stop lists related to fee defaults.
- Support annual fee structure finalisation.
- Ensure complete and accurate fee reconciliation.
5. Vendor & Salary Management- Verify vendor invoices and supporting documents.
- Monitor creditors and vendor outstanding payments.
- Coordinate and negotiate with vendors where required.
- Review the final approved salary sheet.
- Ensure timely teaching and non-teaching salary transfers.
- Coordinate with HR for payroll-related financial requirements.
6. Audit, Compliance & External Coordination- Coordinate tax, statutory and internal audits.
- Finalise accounts and coordinate with CAs and auditors.
- Handle audit queries and required documentation.
- Coordinate ROC-related requirements where applicable.
- Oversee institutional compliance including CBSE OASIS, LOC, Mandatory Public Disclosure, RTE, UDISE and affiliation-related requirements.
- Coordinate statutory certificates such as fire safety, building safety and water/sanitation.
- Coordinate with DEO, UIT, legal advisors and other relevant authorities.
7. Finance Team Management- Allocate daily work and establish priorities within the Finance team.
- Monitor pending work and deadlines.
- Review reports, reconciliations and accounting entries before submission.
- Resolve routine team and finance-related problems.
- Ensure accountability and timely completion of work.
- Train new Finance team members and standardise processes.
- Provide the Director with final reports and resolved summaries rather than raw operational issues.
Candidate Requirements- 5+ years of relevant Finance & Accounts experience; 7–10+ years preferred.
- Experience managing or supervising a Finance/Accounts team.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, Tally, Excel, banking, taxation and reconciliations.
- Good understanding of TDS, PF, audits, P&L and cash-flow management.
- Experience coordinating with CAs, auditors, banks and external consultants.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality and ownership.
- Ability to independently handle routine financial decisions and escalate only important/strategic matters.
- Experience in a school, educational institution, Trust/Society or similar organisation will be an advantage.
