Company Description The Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge is coming up with its latest addition to luxury safari lodges at Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve located near Jabalpur, offering guests an immersive experience close to nature. Role Description The Head Chef is a full-time, on-site role based at The Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge in Jabalpur. This position is responsible for planning menus, creating recipes, and overseeing daily kitchen operations to deliver consistent, high-quality meals for guests and staff. Key responsibilities include supervising kitchen team members, assigning tasks, and ensuring efficient food preparation and timely service for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events. The Head Chef manages food ordering, inventory, and cost control while maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and compliance with relevant regulations. The role also involves training and mentoring kitchen staff, coordinating with service teams, and incorporating local and seasonal ingredients to enhance the lodge’s culinary identity.
Qualifications
- Strong culinary skills with proven experience as a Head Chef or senior kitchen leader in hotels, resorts, lodges, or similar hospitality environments.
- Expertise in menu planning, recipe development, food presentation, and creating both buffet and à la carte offerings that meet diverse dietary preferences.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and kitchen health and safety practices, with the ability to implement and monitor compliance.
- Experience managing kitchen operations, including staff scheduling, training, performance supervision, inventory control, and vendor coordination.
- Ability to manage food costs and portion control, optimize use of seasonal ingredients, and maintain quality within budget constraints.
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house and management teams.
- Willingness to live and work on-site in Jabalpur, with flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and peak tourist seasons.
- Formal culinary education or professional certification is preferred; familiarity with regional Indian cuisine and lodge-style dining is an advantage.
