Job details:
Neofox Media | CR Park, New Delhi | In person | 6 months | Paid internship
I'm Rishabh, founder of Neofox. I'm hiring one intern to work out of my office, next to me.
Business, operations and strategy, working directly with the founder.
This post is long on purpose. I would rather over-explain the job than have the wrong person apply.
WHAT NEOFOX IS
A creative production house in CR Park, New Delhi. I started it in 2014. Fifteen people on staff, plus a freelance bench of camera, edit and design people we work with regularly.
We make films and content. Brand films for clients like Hyundai and Samsung, corporate work for PwC, hospitality for Shangri-La, and music and festival content for the likes of Sunburn. Our internal line is "Make Films Horizontal Again," which is half a joke about vertical video and half an actual position on craft.
Two other businesses run out of the same building. Treat for Tails is a D2C pet supplements brand we own and operate ourselves, from formulation to packaging to marketplace listings. Candid Tales is our wedding films arm. So in a normal week this office is running a shoot, a supplement production run, a client campaign and three pitches at once.
WHO I AM, AND WHAT I ACTUALLY DO
I'm a producer by trade and an engineer by temperament.
Half my week looks like any agency founder. Client conversations, scoping and pricing, reviewing cuts, unblocking the team, chasing payments, deciding what we say yes and no to.
The other half is stranger. I write the software this company runs on. Our client invoicing and GST filing, vendor onboarding and KYC, payroll and reimbursements, the board our clients use to review and approve cuts, equipment tracking, our media archive, a portal for our accountant. I design circuit boards in KiCad and build ESP32 hardware, run our own servers instead of paying for SaaS, and build systematic models for investing because markets are an interesting engineering problem. We've built a live-visuals LED system into a sitar, and I've shipped apps to the App Store.
I read balance sheets for fun, and I'm the person here who actually knows where our margin comes from.
Why that matters to you: I don't treat creative, operations, finance and engineering as separate departments. I treat them as one system. Work with me and you get pulled across all of it.
Things I'm good at and can teach you:
- Producing and budgeting films and campaigns
- Pricing creative work, which almost nobody teaches properly
- Negotiating with clients and vendors
- Building systems and automation instead of hiring people to do manual work
- Reading a P&L and understanding unit economics
- Knowing when something must be perfect and when rough is enough
- Using AI as a serious working tool. I use it daily on live commercial work, and I'll teach you how to work with it properly. That skill is worth more than anything else you'll pick up here.
Things I'm not: patient with process for its own sake, a fan of long meetings, or good at repeating myself.
You'd also work closely with Aarti, my co-founder.
WHAT THE ROLE ACTUALLY IS
Founder's office is not a department. It's leverage.
You take whatever is currently the most annoying unsolved thing on my plate and make it stop being my problem. There's no fixed JD, but a realistic few weeks:
- Sit in on a client call and turn it into a scope, a timeline and a first cut at a quote
- Build the sheet that says whether a project actually made money after everyone got paid
- Research a category we're pitching into and write me a one page brief I can use
- Chase five vendors for quotes and come back with a recommendation, not five quotes
- Draft a proposal, a client email or a deck
- Work on Treat for Tails: its margins, its listings, its retention. A real D2C brand with real problems, not a case study
- Test and break the internal tools I build, and tell me where they're stupid
- Own the follow up on everything decided in a meeting, and quietly close all of it
Your first month, concretely. Week one you sit in on everything and write the notes. Week two you own the follow up list for the whole office. By week three you have your first project of your own. By week four you've told me something about this business I didn't know.
You'll see numbers, contracts, client conversations and strategy most people don't get near for years. That's the point of the seat.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME
- Direct access. You sit near me and talk to me daily. No layer between us.
- Real responsibility early, and the credit for it.
- Fast, specific, blunt feedback. If something isn't good you'll hear why in ten minutes, not in a review in three months.
- Explanations. If I ask for something you can ask why, and I'll walk you through the reasoning, the numbers or the client politics behind it.
- Range. Three businesses and most functions, which is unusual this early.
- A real recommendation and real introductions if you're good. Not a template.
- A full time offer if you're strong. That is the actual intent of this hire, not a consolation line at the bottom of a job post.
The honest trade off:
- I move fast and change direction. What you spent Tuesday on may be irrelevant by Thursday. I'll tell you why, but it will happen.
- I run a lot of parallel threads and I'll send you thoughts at odd hours. I don't expect a reply at odd hours.
- You'll regularly be handed things you don't yet know how to do. Figuring it out is the job.
- This is a working office, not a classroom.
WHAT I EXPECT FROM YOU
- You close loops. If you said you'd do it, it's done. Or I hear about the problem before the deadline, not after.
- You write clearly. The single biggest one. Answer first, short sentences, no padding.
- You're comfortable with numbers. Not accounting. But don't flinch at a budget, a margin calculation or a messy spreadsheet.
- You bring an answer, not just a question. "Here are three options and I'd pick B because X" beats "what should I do."
- You have taste, and you can argue for it. Tell me something is good and I'll ask why. "It felt nice" isn't an answer. The casting, the pacing, the cut, the line, what they chose to leave out. You don't have to be right. You do have to have thought about it.
- You can get from a business problem to a creative idea. That's what strategy actually is. Almost no client wants a film. They want to launch something, change how they're seen, sell more, or beat someone. Find the real problem under the brief and you'll be useful here from month one.
- You pay attention to what's working, and why. Ads, films, packaging, accounts that are growing. Not so you can copy them. So you know what an audience has already seen a thousand times.
- Curiosity that crosses domains. Only interested in the creative side, or only the business side? Wrong seat.
- Discretion. You'll see financials, client terms, salaries and personal data. It stays inside. Non negotiable.
- Use AI well and still think for yourself. I can tell the difference instantly.
You don't need a film background, a marketing degree or agency experience. I care how you think and whether you finish things.
THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF
- You want to be behind a camera or in an edit suite. That's a different job and we hire for it separately. Apply there instead, genuinely.
- You want a fixed job description and a predictable week
- You need to be told what to do next
- You're here for a certificate
LOGISTICS
- CR Park, New Delhi. In person.
- 6 months, full time, starting immediately
- Strong performers get a full time offer
HOW TO APPLY
Don't send a cover letter. Email team@neofoxmedia.com with the subject line "Founder's Office - [Your Name]" and include:
- Your CV.
- Under 200 words on the most complicated thing you've organised or built yourself. A business, a college fest, software, a trip, a spreadsheet you were unreasonably proud of. Tell me what went wrong and what you did about it.
- One thing you think Neofox or Treat for Tails is doing badly, and what you'd do instead. Being wrong is fine. Being vague is not.
I read every application myself.
