Jaey is India’s first size-inclusive power-dressing brand - think Raymond, but for women.
We sell through our own website and marketplaces like Myntra, Nykaa Fashion, and Zilo. As we scale, we’re looking for a hands-on Merchandiser to support daily ecommerce operations, production coordination, and inventory control.
This is an on-site Junior Merchandiser Intern role, with Jaey's head-office in Kurla East.
About the role:
You will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end merchandising process, ensuring effective communication between production, sales, and clients to meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor and Production Coordination:
- Act as a bridge between the internal team and external vendors.
- Manage coordination with vendors for sampling, production status, quality checks, and timelines.
- Ensure smooth communication of technical details like fabrics, trims, fits, and specifications to vendors.
Order Management:
- Act as a key point of contact between production and design teams.
- Understand and communicate customer requirements, ensuring alignment with production capabilities.
- Track production progress, flag delays or bottlenecks proactively, and ensure smooth execution of order on a day to day basis.
- Support planning and logistics teams to meet delivery schedules without last-minute surprises.
Sourcing Support:
- Actively assist in sourcing fabrics, trims, packaging, and new vendors as required.
- Visit local markets and vendors to negotiate and finalize sourcing deals.
- Build and maintain a reliable vendor and sourcing database.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records of raw materials, trims, and finished goods.
- Regularly update inventory sheets, reconcile stock differences, and ensure timely replenishments.
- Coordinate with production and dispatch teams to monitor stock movement.
Costing and Pricing Support:
- Work closely with the internal team to gather costing inputs from vendors.
- Help build basic costing sheets using Excel and ensure all vendor costs are updated timely.
Cataloguing and Marketplace Operations:
- Coordinate with the design and content team to gather product information for catalogue creation (titles, descriptions, measurements, imagery).
- Assist in uploading and maintaining product listings across marketplaces (such as Nykaa Fashion, Ajio, Myntra, etc.) and brand website.
- Assist in operational coordination for order processing and returns management on marketplaces.
Market Intelligence:
- Keep an ear to the ground for fabric innovations, new vendors, and sourcing opportunities.
- Regularly report back on market trends and help the design and production team stay competitive.
Quality Support:
- Assist in quality checks during sampling and production stages.
- Escalate quality concerns early and coordinate reworks with vendors.
What we're looking for -
- Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Fashion, or a related field.
- Street-smart, proactive, and confident in on-ground execution (vendor visits, market runs, production floor follow-ups).
- Highly detail-oriented with good Excel skills for tracking inventory, orders, catalogues, and production timelines.
- Good communication and negotiation skills to professionally coordinate with vendors and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced, hands-on startup environment.
- Willingness to travel within the city for vendor and market visits.
- 0–1 years of experience in merchandising, production coordination, sourcing, or operations in the fashion/apparel space.
Structure & Compensation:
- You will be hired as an intern for the first 3 months, and upon satisfactory performance, you'll be promoted to a full-time employee on completion of your internship.
- Salary is reflective of experience and knowledge, aligned with industry standards.
