ESG Initiatives Specialist

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced ESG Initiatives Specialist to lead the ESG implementation workstream for the various listed Company’s engagement. The role requires hands-on expertise in configuring ESG management software, executing Double Materiality Assessment (DMA), conducting Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), performing Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), supporting end-to-end BRSR implementation, and developing a Sustainable Supply Chain Framework (SSCF).
Key Responsibilities
ESG Management Software
- Configure and implement the ESG management platform, including organisational hierarchy, plant/entity structure, user roles and permissions.
- Develop the platform's data architecture covering ESG data collection, validation and reporting workflows.
- Configure GHG inventory modules, including Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 calculation methodologies aligned with the GHG Protocol.
- Set up climate risk modules, dashboards, KPIs and evidence-management workflows.
- Design automated validation checks and approval workflows to ensure accurate plant-level data aggregation and minimise manual reconciliation.
- Support business users during implementation, onboarding and platform adoption.
Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR)
- Lead the end-to-end BRSR implementation process, from planning and data collection to final disclosure.
- Coordinate with multiple business functions and manufacturing units to collect quantitative and qualitative data across all BRSR principles.
- Establish robust data collection templates, validation mechanisms and governance processes to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Perform BRSR calculations, verify KPIs, reconcile data inconsistencies and ensure traceability of supporting evidence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve data quality and reporting efficiency.
- Stay updated with evolving SEBI BRSR requirements and support organisations in strengthening ESG disclosure practices.
Double Materiality Assessment (DMA)
- Develop a comprehensive ESG materiality universe aligned with GRI Standards, BRSR requirements and sector-specific sustainability topics.
- Lead the Double Materiality Assessment by evaluating:
- Financial Materiality – ESG issues that create financial risks or opportunities for the business.
- Impact Materiality – The organisation's positive and negative impacts on people, society and the environment.
- Design stakeholder engagement strategies, including surveys, interviews and workshops across investors, employees, customers, suppliers, regulators and local communities.
- Develop scoring methodologies, analyse stakeholder responses and prepare a robust, evidence-based materiality matrix.
- Present findings and facilitate discussions with senior management and functional teams.
Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD)
- Conduct human rights risk assessments across the organisation's operations and value chain.
- Map risks relating to employees, contract labour, suppliers and other business relationships.
- Develop impact identification and risk-scoring methodologies aligned with internationally recognised due diligence frameworks.
- Design mitigation measures, corrective action plans and ongoing monitoring mechanisms that can be institutionalised within the organisation.
- Support implementation of human rights governance processes and reporting.
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for products and processes in accordance with recognised international methodologies.
- Define system boundaries, collect life cycle inventory (LCI) data and evaluate environmental impacts across the product life cycle.
- Work with manufacturing, procurement and operations teams to gather accurate process and material flow data.
- Identify environmental hotspots and recommend opportunities for reducing emissions, resource consumption and overall environmental footprint.
- Support integration of LCA findings into product sustainability strategies and ESG disclosures.
Sustainable Supply Chain Framework (SSCF)
- Develop a sustainable procurement framework for supplier ESG assessment and monitoring.
- Segment Tier-1 suppliers based on spend, criticality and ESG risk exposure.
- Design Supplier Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs) covering environmental, social and governance parameters.
- Develop supplier scoring methodologies, onboarding criteria, escalation mechanisms and supplier improvement programmes.
- Collaborate with procurement and business teams to integrate ESG considerations into supplier management processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience in ESG consulting, sustainability advisory or corporate ESG functions.
- Proven experience delivering Double Materiality Assessments, Human Rights Due Diligence, Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and sustainable supply chain programmes.
- Strong understanding of the BRSR framework, including end-to-end implementation, data collection, KPI calculations, validation and reporting.
- Experience implementing or administering at least one enterprise ESG management platform.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- GRI Standards
- BRSR Framework
- Double Materiality methodology
- GHG Protocol (Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3)
- ESG reporting frameworks
- Experience conducting stakeholder engagement workshops and cross-functional data collection exercises.
- Strong analytical, project management and stakeholder management capabilities.
