On behalf of our client, we are seeking a driven, high-caliber Equity Research Associate to join their top-rated Institutional Equities Research team in Mumbai.
Role Overview
The Associate will work directly with Lead Analysts covering public equities across Real Estate, Hospitality, Travel & Leisure, Airlines, Discretionary Consumer (Luggage, Amusement Parks), and selected High-Growth Small & Mid-Caps.
The role focuses on deep fundamental research, dynamic financial modeling, property/project visits, primary channel checks, and generating actionable investment insights for institutional asset managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Modeling & Valuation: Build and update detailed earnings models, DCF/SOTP valuation frameworks, and financial statement forecasts using quarterly statutory filings, annual reports, and investor presentations.
- Primary Ground Research: Conduct rigorous site visits, property/project inspections, channel checks, and industry partner meetings to capture on-the-ground intelligence.
- Research Note Generation: Draft quarterly result updates, earnings previews, channel check briefs, and sector tracking databases on a monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis.
- Client & ECM Support: Assist with institutional client requests, bespoke thematic data analysis, and cross-functional deliverables alongside Corporate Access and Equity Capital Markets (ECM) teams.
Candidate Prerequisites
- Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in Equity Research (Buy-side or Sell-side) or corporate finance/strategy roles within the Real Estate, Hospitality, or Consumer sectors.
- Technical Skills: Exceptional financial modeling skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and a strong mastery of accounting principles and valuation methodologies.
- Operational Discipline: High analytical rigor, capacity to handle institutional research timelines, and comfort with market-readiness schedules (including a 7:45 AM start).
- Education: Qualified CA, MBA in Finance, CFA Charterholder/Candidate, or Post-Graduate Degree in Finance.

Key Responsibilities
- Financial Modeling & NAV Valuations: Build and maintain detailed financial models, dynamic DCF models, and Net Asset Value (NAV) valuation frameworks updated for quarterly statutory filings, investor presentations, and annual reports.
- On-the-Ground Primary Research: Conduct rigorous primary research by visiting real estate projects, inspecting developments, and meeting industry brokers and channel partners—a core element of the team’s competitive advantage.
- Sector Tracking & Data Collation: Gather and synthesize Real Estate sector metrics, absorption trends, micro-market pricing, and REIT operational data on a monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis.
- Research Note Generation: Draft quarterly result updates, regular research notes, channel check summaries, and company-specific insight reports analyzing competitive dynamics.
- Institutional Client & ECM Support: Respond to institutional client inquiries, deliver bespoke market analysis under tight deadlines, and collaborate with Corporate Access and Equity Capital Markets (ECM) teams.
Candidate Prerequisites
- Domain Background: 3–5 years of relevant experience in Equity Research (Buy-side or Sell-side) covering Real Estate, or direct corporate strategy, finance, or valuation experience within the Real Estate/REIT sector.
- Financial Modeling: Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial statement analysis, NAV/DCF valuation methodologies, and accounting principles.
- Ground Research Aptitude: Strong field research mindset and willingness to conduct site visits and interact directly with market participants.
