Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai for a Custom Clearance Manager. The Custom Clearance Manager will oversee end-to-end customs clearance operations for import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and documentation requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating with customs authorities, shipping lines, transporters, and clients to secure timely clearances; verifying and preparing documentation such as invoices, packing lists, and declarations; and resolving any clearance-related issues or queries. The role involves monitoring shipment status, maintaining accurate records, optimizing operational workflows, and supporting inventory tracking where required. The Custom Clearance Manager will also collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality customer service and contribute to continuous process improvement.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret customs regulations, assess documentation accuracy, and troubleshoot clearance issues.
- Candidates should possess Operations Management skills to oversee customs processes, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure timely completion of import/export activities.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills to interact effectively with clients, customs officials, and internal teams, both verbally and in writing.
- Candidates should possess Inventory Management skills to support tracking of goods, maintain records, and align clearance activities with warehouse operations.
- Candidates should possess Customer Service skills to handle client queries, provide status updates, and manage expectations professionally.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian customs laws, tariffs, and documentation procedures, especially for Mumbai ports and terminals.
- Prior experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or logistics operations, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Proficiency with relevant customs and logistics software, and strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, email communication).
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability to work on-site in Mumbai, manage multiple shipments concurrently, and maintain high levels of accuracy under time constraints.
