Company Description Edulab is a global platform focused on experiential learning for students aged 15 to 29, offering international programs in more than 15 countries. The organization has delivered notable initiatives such as the US Cultural Immersion Institute funded by the US State Department, an India–China exchange program, and the BRIC Internship program for the Belgium Government. Each year, the Edulab team supports over 100,000 students, driven by the belief that cultural understanding and international exposure expand a learner’s worldview. Through programs like international internships, study abroad, gap year, and international volunteering, Edulab enables students to live, learn, and interact across cultures with support from local representatives. These experiences are designed to foster cultural integration, global literacy, and deeper awareness of diverse beliefs and social contexts.
Role Description The Study Abroad Counsellor will guide students and families through the entire study abroad lifecycle, from initial inquiry to post-admission support. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, involving regular in-person consultations, information sessions, and follow-up meetings. Daily responsibilities include assessing student profiles and aspirations, recommending suitable countries, institutions, and programs, and explaining eligibility criteria, application timelines, and documentation requirements. The counsellor will assist with application forms, statement of purpose guidance, and coordination with partner universities and internal teams, ensuring accurate and timely submission of all materials. The role also includes conducting orientation sessions, maintaining detailed records in CRM or student management systems, responding to queries via phone, email, and in person, and contributing to outreach activities such as school visits, seminars, and events. A strong focus on ethical advising, student well-being, and clear communication is expected throughout the counselling process.
Qualifications
- Strong student advisory and counselling abilities, including aptitude for understanding learner goals, providing clear guidance, and offering empathetic support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information clearly, conduct group sessions, and build trust with students, families, and institutional partners.
- Organizational and administrative skills, including experience managing documentation, tracking applications, meeting deadlines, and using CRM or database tools.
- Knowledge of international education systems, study abroad processes, and visa or compliance requirements; prior exposure to global programs or cross-cultural environments is highly beneficial.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple student cases simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counselling, international relations, social sciences, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification or professional certification in counselling or international education is an advantage.
