Company Description MITTI Café is a non-profit organization that creates livelihood opportunities and experiential training for adults with physical, intellectual, and psychiatric disabilities. The organization runs over 40 inclusive cafés in locations such as the Supreme Court, major airports in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Lucknow, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and leading corporate campuses. Through its café network, MITTI Café’s teams have served millions of meals and beverages while providing hands-on training in food service and operations. Additional initiatives include Karuna (Compassion) Meals for economically vulnerable families and a Good Gifts platform that showcases products from marginalized communities. Role Description The Cook at MITTI Café will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of food items, following standardized recipes, portion sizes, and hygiene guidelines. Day-to-day tasks include food preparation (chopping, marinating, cooking), setting up and maintaining kitchen stations, and ensuring that dishes are prepared consistently and served on time. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen, proper storage of ingredients, minimizing waste, and supporting inventory checks. The Cook will collaborate with café team members, including adults with diverse abilities, to provide a supportive, respectful, and efficient working environment. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru.
Qualifications
- Ability to prepare and cook basic café-style food items, with knowledge of standard recipes and portion control.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Basic skills in kitchen organization, including station setup, cleaning routines, and waste reduction.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, manage time effectively, and coordinate with café team members.
- Strong commitment to inclusion, respect, and teamwork in a diverse workplace.
- Prior experience as a cook, kitchen assistant, or in food service is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and participate in MITTI Café’s training and development programs.
- Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, with flexibility for café operating hours.
