- Assess potential matches against applicable sanctions lists, including the UN, UAE Local Terrorist List, OFAC, EU and UK lists.
- Conduct adverse media checks and clearly document whether alerts represent true matches or false positives, including the rationale.
- Review real-time and post-transaction screening alerts across domestic and cross-border payments.
- Identify potential sanctions breaches and recommend the release, blocking or rejection of transactions in line with applicable policies.
- Investigate transaction monitoring alerts by assessing customer activity, profile, expected behaviour and counterparties.
- Conduct complex investigations involving linked accounts, customer networks, repeated patterns or other potentially suspicious activity.
- Gather relevant evidence, establish timelines and prepare clear investigation summaries suitable for review by Compliance, auditors and regulators.
2. STR/SAR Reporting & Escalations
- Draft clear and evidence-based Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) for review and filing by the Compliance Officer/MLRO.
- Complete investigations and reporting within applicable internal and regulatory timelines.
- Promptly escalate potential sanctions matches, terrorist financing concerns and other high-risk matters to the Compliance Officer/MLRO.
- Ensure cases are appropriately documented from initial investigation through to final recommendation and closure.
3. Trend & Typology Analysis
- Analyse alerts, cases and transaction data to identify emerging financial crime trends, unusual patterns and new typologies.
- Identify trends across customer segments, products, payment corridors and counterparties.
- Escalate material or unusual trends to the Head of Compliance & Risk, supported by relevant data and an assessment of the associated risk.
- Recommend improvements to monitoring rules, thresholds and procedures based on investigation findings and emerging patterns.
- Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of controls and reduce unnecessary false positives.
4. MIS & Compliance Reporting
- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly and monthly AML/CFT/CPF MIS covering alert volumes, ageing, outcomes, STR/SAR status, periodic review progress and relevant KPIs.
- Support the preparation of weekly and monthly reports for internal management and regulatory submissions.
- Produce ad-hoc reports and data analysis as required.
- Ensure all reporting is accurate and reconciled against relevant source systems before issuance.
- Support the AML Manager and Compliance Head in day-to-day activities, including policy updates, risk assessments and special compliance projects.
- Support the development and delivery of AML awareness and financial crime training across the organisation.
5. Customer Due Diligence & Periodic Reviews
- Manage periodic review cases for medium- and high-risk customers.
- Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) where required.
- Review source of funds, source of wealth, customer business activities and other relevant risk factors.
- Ensure periodic reviews and EDD cases are appropriately documented and completed within required timelines.
