Company Description Manav Vikas Sansthan (MVS) is a secular, non-political, voluntary organization established in 1996 in the Kotdhar region of Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh. Working from its base in Kalol village, MVS focuses on improving the quality of life and the local environment in rural and hilly areas. The organization is active across Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana, with key programs in women’s empowerment and youth employment. Its core work includes sustainable agricultural livelihoods, animal husbandry-based livelihoods, and watershed development, supported by partners such as NABARD, ITC, ACC, and relevant government departments. Guided by a strong vision and mission, MVS promotes livelihood, financial, social, health, and education security while preserving natural resources and improving sanitation.
Role Description The Community Mobilizer will work full time on-site in Kapurthala, engaging directly with rural communities and local stakeholders. Responsibilities include organizing village meetings, facilitating awareness sessions on SHG group, Fincial litercy & livelihood initiatives. The role involves identifying community needs, assisting in the formation and strengthening of self-help groups and farmer collectives, and coordinating with government departments and partner organizations for scheme implementation. The Community Mobilizer will collect field data, prepare basic reports, and share feedback with project teams to improve program delivery. This position requires regular field visits, relationship-building with community members, and consistent follow-up to ensure that planned activities are implemented effectively.
Qualifications
- Strong community engagement and mobilization skills, including facilitation of group meetings and outreach activities.
- Experience working in rural development, sustainable agriculture, watershed development, or livelihood promotion projects.
- Ability to communicate clearly with diverse community members, local leaders, and institutional stakeholders.
- Basic skills in documentation, data collection, and reporting for field-based programs.
- Knowledge of local socio-cultural context in Punjab and surrounding regions; familiarity with local language(s) is highly beneficial.
- Minimum of a secondary or higher secondary education; a diploma or degree in social work, rural development, agriculture, or a related field is an advantage.
- Capacity to travel within project villages, work in outdoor and rural settings, and manage time independently.
- Commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and non-discriminatory practices in all community interactions.
