Command & Control (C2) Internship
Malforge Academy
Duration: 6 months
Location: Fully Remote
Type: Internship (Hands-on / Research-oriented)
About Malforge Academy
Malforge Academy is a specialized cybersecurity education and research organization focused on offensive security, red team operations, malware development research, and practical adversary simulation training. We build research-driven, hands-on learning modules and labs that help security professionals understand real-world attacker tradecraft so they can better defend systems.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced intern for a 6-month remote Command & Control (C2) Internship. This is not an entry-level or learning-from-scratch role. Candidates must already possess proven hands-on experience operating and working with C2 frameworks/servers in red team or adversary simulation contexts.
You will contribute to internal research, lab development, and content/project support related to C2 operations within ethical red team and training environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support research and development activities related to Command & Control frameworks and red team infrastructure in controlled lab environments.
- Assist in the design, documentation, and improvement of practical training modules, scenarios, and projects involving C2 usage in red team operations.
- Contribute to internal testing, validation, and refinement of C2-related lab exercises and research materials.
- Collaborate with the team on technical documentation, research notes, and educational content aligned with offensive security best practices.
- Participate in structured red team research discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Help maintain high standards of operational security, documentation quality, and ethical boundaries in all work.
Mandatory Requirements
- Demonstrated hands-on working experience with Command & Control (C2) servers/frameworks (not just theoretical knowledge or tool familiarity).
- Proven practical experience in red teaming or adversary simulation engagements (lab, academic, professional, or research-based).
- Strong understanding of red team methodologies, adversary tactics, and the role of C2 in realistic attack simulations.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting with strong documentation and communication skills.
- Commitment to ethical offensive security practices and responsible research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience contributing to or building training materials, labs, or research related to offensive security.
- Familiarity with Windows/Linux internals, networking concepts relevant to C2 operations, and common red team tooling ecosystems.
- Prior involvement in malware development research, post-exploitation research, or related offensive security domains (aligned with Malforge Academy’s focus areas).
- Clear portfolio, write-ups, lab reports, or verifiable project experience that demonstrates hands-on C2 and red team work.
What We Offer
- Fully remote 6-month internship focused on advanced offensive security research and content.
- Opportunity to work closely with a specialized team on real training and research materials.
- Exposure to Malforge Academy’s research-driven approach to red team and malware-related education.
- Flexible remote work structure suitable for experienced practitioners.
How to Apply
Interested candidates who meet the mandatory hands-on experience requirements should submit:
- Updated resume/CV highlighting relevant C2 and red team experience.
- Brief cover note describing specific hands-on C2 and red team experience (tools/frameworks used, nature of work, and outcomes — without disclosing sensitive operational details).
- Any supporting portfolio, lab reports, write-ups, or project links (if available).
Please send applications to the official contact channel used by Malforge Academy (or the address provided in the posting). Only candidates who clearly demonstrate prior hands-on C2 server and red team experience will be considered.
Malforge Academy is an equal opportunity organization. We evaluate candidates based on demonstrated technical capability and alignment with ethical offensive security research.
