About HireCue.ai
HireCue.ai is building a real-time AI copilot for interviews, meetings, assessments, sales calls, and other high-stakes conversations.
Our vision is to build an intelligent AI layer that can understand conversations in real time, provide context-aware assistance, generate insights, and help users communicate and perform more effectively.
We are looking for a Co-Founder & CTO who wants to take ownership of the technology and build the product from the ground up.
About the Role
This is not a
traditional CTO job.
We are looking for a technical entrepreneur who wants to become a core builder and take founder-level ownership of HireCue's technology, product, engineering team, and technical strategy.
As Co-Founder & CTO, you will work directly with the founder to define the product vision, design the technical architecture, build the initial engineering team, and take HireCue from its current stage to a scalable AI product.
You will have significant influence over
what we build, how we build it, and where the technology goes.
What You Will Own
- Define and execute HireCue's overall technology strategy
- Design scalable architecture for real-time AI applications
- Lead development of AI/LLM-powered features
- Build real-time transcription and conversation intelligence systems
- Design backend, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure and security
- Evaluate and integrate LLMs, speech-to-text, embeddings, RAG and AI agents
- Build reliable, low-latency real-time systems
- Establish engineering standards, development processes and code quality
- Recruit and lead the founding engineering team
- Work closely with the founder on product strategy and roadmap
- Convert customer problems into technically feasible products
- Make critical build-vs-buy and technology decisions
- Own scalability, reliability, security and performance
- Help HireCue build a strong technical moat
- Represent the technical vision of the company to customers, partners and investors
Ideal Co-Founder
We are looking for someone
who is a builder first, CTO second, and entrepreneur throughout.
You may be a strong fit if you:
- Have hands-on experience building and launching software products
- Have strong Full-Stack Engineering fundamentals
- Understand modern AI/LLM technologies
- Have experience with APIs, cloud infrastructure and distributed systems
- Can architect a product rather than only implement assigned tasks
- Are comfortable going from idea → architecture → prototype → production
- Can independently debug and solve difficult technical problems
- Have experience building products from 0→1
- Can hire, mentor and lead engineers
- Understand product thinking and user experience
- Move fast and are comfortable with ambiguity
- Have strong ownership and entrepreneurial mindset
- Want to build a company, not simply take a job
Strong Plus
Experience with any of the following is highly valuable:
- LLMs / Generative AI
- AI Agents
- RAG
- Speech-to-Text / Text-to-Speech
- Real-time audio/video systems
- WebSockets / streaming architectures
- Vector databases
- Python / Node.js / TypeScript
- React / Next.js
- PostgreSQL / Redis
- AWS / GCP / Azure
- Docker / Kubernetes
- AI SaaS products
- Meeting intelligence or interview technology
- Building and scaling a startup
What We Are NOT Looking For
This role may not be suitable if you:
- Only want a conventional 9-to-5 CTO position
- Prefer managing engineers without being hands-on
- Need detailed instructions for every task
- Are interested only in writing code and not product/business decisions
- Are uncomfortable with uncertainty and rapid experimentation
