Role Description This is a full-time, on-site CNC/VMC Machine Setter role based at the company’s facility in Chennai. The CNC/VMC Machine Setter will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC and VMC machines according to job specifications, drawings, and production plans. Day-to-day tasks include selecting and installing tools and fixtures, loading programs, adjusting offsets, and conducting trial runs to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes. The role involves monitoring machine operations, inspecting parts using appropriate measuring instruments, and making corrections to maintain quality standards. Additional responsibilities include routine machine maintenance, adherence to safety protocols, collaboration with production and quality teams, and documentation of production activities.
Qualifications
- Strong CNC and VMC machine setting and operating skills, including tool selection, fixture setup, and program loading.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Knowledge of machining parameters, cutting speeds, feeds, tolerances, and basic troubleshooting of machining issues.
- Understanding of safety practices, shop-floor housekeeping, and basic preventive maintenance procedures.
- Prior experience in a forging, automotive, or precision engineering environment is highly beneficial.
- Minimum qualification of ITI, Diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical, Tool & Die, or related discipline.
- Ability to work in shifts, meet production targets, follow instructions, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
