About the Company
At Modlix, we’re redefining how software is built — empowering non-technical creators, business innovators, and experienced developers alike.
Traditional development is complex, time-consuming, and often exclusive to coders. We believe technology should be accessible to everyone. That’s why Modlix is building an open-source no-code/low-code platform that enables users to create scalable SaaS applications with drag-and-drop simplicity, a powerful component marketplace, and the flexibility to extend functionality with code.
And we’re taking it further — integrating AI and machine learning to revolutionize the way applications are built. Our LLM-powered engine will allow users to simply describe their app in natural language, and Modlix will generate the entire UI, workflows, and business logic automatically.
Our vision goes beyond technology — it’s about building a collaborative, inclusive community where people of all skill levels can create, learn, and grow together. If you believe in a future where anyone can build software, we’d love to have you on this journey.
Role Overview
We’re looking for an energetic, ambitious, and truly hands-on technology leader to join us as CTO (5+ years of experience). This is not a role for someone who just wants to manage technology — it’s for a builder who wants to create something from the ground up, shape the product, build the engineering team, and be a key part of the company’s growth journey.
You’ll spend most of your time in the codebase — architecting the platform, writing production code, reviewing PRs, and shipping alongside the team every day — while owning the entire technology vision for Modlix: from the core no-code engine and component marketplace to our LLM-powered app-generation engine.
What You’ll Do
- Write production code daily — this is a player-coach role where you lead from the trenches, not from a slide deck
- Own the architecture of our no-code/low-code platform, ensuring it scales from individual creators to enterprise workloads
- Lead the design and development of our LLM-powered engine that converts natural language into complete applications (UI, workflows, and business logic)
- Make pragmatic build-vs-buy and technology-stack decisions, balancing speed of execution with long-term maintainability
- Set and enforce engineering standards — code reviews, CI/CD, testing, observability, and security practices
- Drive our open-source strategy: community contributions, public roadmap, and developer ecosystem
- Recruit, mentor, and grow a lean, high-performing engineering team
- Work directly with the founders on product strategy, translating business goals into technical roadmaps
- Own infrastructure and cloud costs, keeping the platform performant and cost-efficient as we scale
Your Impact Over Time
After 1 Month, You Will…
- Be shipping code to production and know the codebase deeply — every service, every pipeline
- Have audited our current architecture, infrastructure, and engineering practices
- Establish a technical baseline: performance, reliability, security, and cost metrics
After 3 Months, You Will…
- Have shipped meaningful improvements to the core platform with your own commits
- Own the technical roadmap, aligned with product and business priorities
- Have upgraded engineering practices — faster releases, stronger reviews, better observability
- Be actively driving the architecture of the LLM-powered app-generation engine
After 6 Months, You Will…
- Have delivered major platform milestones from conception through deployment
- Have built or grown the engineering team while maintaining a strong hands-on presence
- Have positioned Modlix’s architecture to scale 10x — users, apps, and AI workloads
- Be the recognized technical face of Modlix in the open-source and developer community
Who You Are
Must-Haves
- Meaningful contributions to the open-source LLM ecosystem — research code, model releases, datasets, or substantive contributions to widely-used projects.
- Still deeply hands-on: you write code every day and can out-build most engineers on the team
- Strong startup experience and a builder mindset — a track record of shipping products from zero to production in fast-moving environments
- Expert-level proficiency in full-stack development — Java/Kotlin or Node.js backends, React or similar modern frontend frameworks
- Proven experience architecting and scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms in production
- Strong grounding in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Kubernetes, microservices, and CI/CD
- Strong understanding of AI/ML systems — integrating LLMs into products, prompt pipelines, RAG, or fine-tuning workflows
- High ownership, speed, and a strong bias for execution
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- Bangalore-based preferred
Nice to Have
- Experience building no-code/low-code platforms, developer tools, or component-based systems
- Contributions to or maintenance of open-source projects
- Hands-on experience training or fine-tuning language models (LoRA, PEFT, SLMs)
- Experience with plugin architectures, marketplaces, or extensibility frameworks
- Prior experience as a founding engineer, tech lead, or early-stage CTO
What We Offer
- The chance to define the technology vision of an ambitious, open-source AI-driven platform
- A true builder’s seat at the leadership table — equity and ownership commensurate with the role
- Direct partnership with the founders on company direction
- A collaborative environment focused on learning and growth
- Competitive salary and benefits
