Job Summary
Job Description – Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for leading the institution's financial strategy, ensuring financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and effective resource utilization. The CFO oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, financial planning, treasury, taxation, audits, risk management, and statutory compliance, while serving as a strategic advisor to the executive leadership. In higher education, the CFO also supports long-term institutional growth, infrastructure expansion, research funding, and financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the University's long-term financial strategy aligned with institutional objectives.
- Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and multi-year financial planning.
- Oversee accounting, treasury, taxation, payroll, procurement, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, audit, and accreditation requirements.
- Monitor cash flow, investments, endowment funds, and capital expenditure.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Management, Finance Committee, and senior leadership.
- Establish strong financial controls, risk management, and internal audit mechanisms.
- Support strategic initiatives including new academic programs, research funding, campus expansion, and infrastructure development through financial planning.
- Oversee grants, sponsored research finances, scholarships, and government funding.
- Lead ERP-enabled finance operations and digital transformation of financial systems.
- Optimize resource allocation while maintaining financial sustainability.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative leaders on budgeting and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NIRF, Income Tax, GST, CSR, and other applicable regulations.
- Lead and mentor the Finance & Accounts Department while fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory; MBA (Finance) or CFA/CPA is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 15–20 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, and strategic financial management.
- At least 8–10 years in a senior financial leadership role such as CFO, Finance Director, or Head of Finance.
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, or large corporate organizations is preferred.
- Strong exposure to ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent), financial reporting, taxation, and audits.
