We are seeking an entrepreneurial and commercially driven Business Head to lead this division, drive business growth, and build a sustainable global business.
Position Overview
Lead the division's strategy, revenue growth, profitability, market expansion and operational excellence while collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing, Sales, Finance and senior leadership.
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Implementation
- Defines and implements the chemical manufacturing strategy across Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, aligned to business growth objectives
- Participates in long-term capacity planning, plant expansion and equipment up-gradation across both facilities
- Contributes to investment planning for new technology, reactors and process equipment to support custom synthesis and API scale-up
- Defines plant objectives and performance parameters (yield, capacity utilization, right-first-time) and develops long-range manufacturing plans
- Designs and implements operational policies and SOPs to manage multi-site operations efficiently.
- Evaluate and prioritize new manufacturing capabilities, technologies and product opportunities based on technical feasibility, capacity requirements and commercial potential.
- Establish a multi-year manufacturing excellence roadmap covering capacity expansion, productivity, automation, technology adoption and operational resilience.
Operational Responsibilities
- Oversees execution of production plans and schedules across both plants, based on customer/sales requirements and available capacity
- Reviews feasibility of new/revised manufacturing processes and oversees internal and customer audits for compliance
- Monitors and ensures compliance with safety (EHS), regulatory (cGMP) and quality requirements at both manufacturing locations
- Drives improvement projects - capacity debottlenecking, equipment up-gradation and automation - to meet regulatory and customer requirements
- Ensures a harmonious industrial-relations environment at both sites so that operations run without disruption
- Monitors functional performance through regular MIS/updates, controls production cost and facilitates corrective action for delays
- Ensures upkeep of buildings, utilities and equipment across facilities as per regulatory and statutory requirements
People Management
- Develops the organization structure for manufacturing operations across both plants, with clearly defined roles and staffing plans
- Sets annual performance goals for plant teams, monitors progress and provides feedback and coaching
- Identifies training and development needs (process safety, cGMP, technical skills) and builds a capable manufacturing team
- Ensures compliance with Company policies and values across both sites.
- Identify and develop high-potential technical and operational talent for future leadership roles.
- Drive a culture of safety, quality, accountability and operational excellence across both manufacturing sites.
Technical Responsibilities
- Identifies new synthesis technology, reactor systems and process equipment to optimize capacity and support new-molecule scale-up
- Conducts internal technical audits and process-safety reviews to identify gaps and drive corrective action
- Guides Process R&D and manufacturing teams on route optimization, impurity control and scale-up troubleshooting
- Build and maintain technical standards and best practices for chemical manufacturing across both Hyderabad and Ahmedabad facilities.
Financial Responsibilities
- Prepares and manages the manufacturing budget (Capex & Opex) across the Hyderabad and Ahmedabad facilities
- Approves plant-level expenses as per authorized limits and monitors production cost against budget
- Drive manufacturing cost optimization strategies across raw materials, utilities, manpower, consumables and conversion costs.
- Evaluate the ROI and commercial justification of Capex for new equipment, automation, capacity expansion and plant upgrades.
- Review major production cost variances against budget and drive corrective actions with relevant functional teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Masters degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
- 15+ of progressive leadership experience in specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical chemicals, APIs, fine chemicals, or related industries.
- Proven experience in managing business growth, P&L responsibility, strategic planning, and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of global chemical markets, customer requirements, and commercial operations.
