Organization Unit Purpose
Transaction Banking Services provides secure and efficient corporate banking solutions across payments, cash management, trade, supply chain finance, and digital channels. The Digital Channels function delivers and continuously enhances web and mobile banking journeys, with a strong focus on product quality, customer experience, integration reliability, and release readiness.
Position Overview and Job Purpose
The Business Analyst - Digital Channels is a quality assurance-led role combining technical testing expertise, business analysis, and stakeholder coordination. The role is responsible for validating digital banking solutions across web, mobile, and integrated upstream systems, while acting as a bridge between Product Owners, UX designers, development teams, technical leads, vendors, and upstream system stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
The job holder owns test planning, manual test design and execution, defect management, regression coverage, test data and environment readiness, feature file documentation, system integration validation, and end-to-end quality assurance. The role also supports requirements clarification, backlog refinement, traceability, release readiness, product demonstrations, and delivery continuity during Product Owner unavailability.
Key Accountabilities
Testing Strategy and Execution
Complete coverage, timely execution, and clear evidence.
Develop and execute test strategies for complex integrated banking systems. Create detailed manual scenarios and test cases covering positive, negative, boundary, exception, and edge conditions. Execute functional, integration, regression, web, mobile, business acceptance, browser compatibility, and platform-specific testing. Conduct working product demonstrations and validate customer journeys across supported channels.
Quality Assurance and Defect Management
Accurate defect reporting, effective closure, and reduced release risk.
Own defect logging, triage, prioritization, retesting, evidence, follow-up, and closure. Coordinate resolution of defects involving Finacle, PaymentHub, Network International, and other dependent systems. Review acceptance testing reports and functional and non-functional results, identify coverage gaps, and communicate quality and release risks.
Feature Files and Automation Readiness
Reusable regression coverage and accurate automation-ready scenarios.
Create, consolidate, and maintain feature files for user stories, capabilities, and upstream-system scenarios. Build scenarios with the technical lead using clear Gherkin syntax. Maintain test suites and regression automation packs. Assess cross-impacts of earlier capabilities and retain relevant coverage for future releases.
Test Data, Environments, and Integration
Reliable test conditions and validated end-to-end processing
Own test data setup and maintain datasets for real-world, negative, and exception scenarios. Coordinate environment readiness and resolve execution dependencies. Validate interfaces, mapping documents, upstream and downstream data flows, data integrity, and end-to-end transaction processing across the product ecosystem.
Requirements and Design Validation
Testable requirements, stronger acceptance criteria, and full traceability.
Review epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and UI/UX designs. Raise clarifications and identify incomplete, inconsistent, ambiguous, or changing requirements before development and testing. Contribute to backlog refinement, enhance acceptance criteria, break down complex stories where required, and maintain traceability to the master capability or user story.
Stakeholder Coordination and Delivery Support
Clear alignment, timely resolution, and informed release decisions.
Coordinate with Product Owners, UX designers, developers, technical delivery leads, vendors, and business stakeholders. Facilitate clarification and defect-resolution discussions, communicate progress, dependencies, risks, and mitigations, and keep onsite stakeholders aligned with sprint objectives. Support sign-off, release readiness, post-release validation, and delivery continuity.
Detailed Responsibilities
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Design comprehensive test coverage for complex, integrated enterprise banking systems across web and mobile platforms.
- Prepare and execute manual test scenarios and cases covering happy paths, negative paths, boundaries, exceptions, edge cases, compatibility, and platform-specific behaviour.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, business acceptance, and end-to-end validation, with clear execution evidence and status reporting.
- Review testing outputs against approved requirements and acceptance criteria and escalate gaps or release risks early.
Defect Lifecycle Management
- Log defects with reproducible steps, supporting evidence, impact, severity, and appropriate prioritization.
- Lead or support defect triage, retesting, upstream-system follow-up, and closure tracking.
- Coordinate defects across Finacle, PaymentHub, Network International, and other integrated systems, ensuring end-to-end resolution rather than channel-only closure.
Feature Files, Automation, and Regression
- Create and maintain feature files for user stories and capabilities, including consolidation across features and upstream systems.
- Partner with the technical lead to produce automation-ready scenarios using Gherkin syntax and clear business rules.
- Maintain test suites and regression packs and anticipate the cross-impact of previous epics in future releases.
Test Data and Environment Management
- Create and manage datasets that simulate realistic customer, transaction, exception, and edge-case conditions.
- Coordinate environment readiness, credentials, integrations, and dependencies required for consistent execution.
- Validate source-to-target mappings, interface behavior, data integrity, and end-to-end transaction flows.
Requirements, Stories, and Design
- Engage with Product Owners to understand functional requirements and contribute to backlog refinement.
- Review and improve user stories and acceptance criteria so they are complete, unambiguous, testable, and aligned with business expectations.
- Coordinate with UX designers to resolve design inconsistencies, incomplete flows, and unclear scenarios before refinement and sprint planning.
- Break requirements into smaller actionable components when required by the squad and document functional knowledge for offshore teams.
- Re-validate that delivered UI/UX matches approved designs and business requirements.
Agile Delivery and Stakeholder Management
- Participate actively in refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, Scrum of Scrums, and prioritization workshops.
- Facilitate timely clarification sessions to unblock development and testing and maintain sprint momentum.
- Manage expectations across onsite and offshore stakeholders and translate technical issues for non-technical audiences.
- Provide domain and functional support, conduct product demonstrations with the Product Owner, and support the Product Owner during absence or unavailability.
- Communicate progress, dependencies, quality risks, mitigation actions, and alignment to sprint objectives.
Key Artefacts and Deliverables
- Test strategy, test plan, scenario inventory, detailed test cases, execution evidence, and status reports.
- Defect logs, triage inputs, retest evidence, closure tracking, and quality or release-risk reporting.
- Feature files, automation-ready Gherkin scenarios, maintained test suites, and regression packs.
- Test datasets, environment-readiness tracking, interface and mapping validation, and data-flow evidence.
- Requirement-to-test traceability, acceptance-testing review, design-validation findings, release-readiness input, and post-release validation.
- Product demonstrations, functional knowledge documentation, dependency tracking, and stakeholder updates.
Working Environment
The role operates within an agile, sprint-based delivery model with daily collaboration across onsite and offshore teams. The job holder should be prepared for ad-hoc clarification sessions, defect triage, and occasional flexible hours to support cross-time-zone coordination. Success requires strong technical testing capability, business acumen, disciplined documentation, and the ability to maintain high product-quality standards throughout the development and release lifecycle.
