Role Overview
This is an urgent hire, and candidates must be available to start immediately or within 7 calendar days of accepting an offer. We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients. The role covers transaction recording, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, month-end support, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records for a portfolio of clients.
- Record financial transactions using bank statements and supporting documents.
- Prepare and review bank, credit-card, account, and general-ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain accounts payable and receivable, pass journal entries, and record accruals and prepayments.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including trial balances, financial statements, statutory accounts, and management reports.
- Review existing accounting records and support the onboarding and setup of new clients in Xero, QuickBooks, or other approved accounting systems.
- Manage bookkeeping schedules, working papers, and deadlines to maintain consistent client financial information.
- Liaise with clients across multiple jurisdictions to obtain information, resolve accounting queries, understand their business models, and improve accounting workflows.
- Support UAE VAT returns and other statutory requirements where relevant.
- Coordinate with auditors and support the timely preparation of annual audited reports and required submissions.
- Maintain clear client communication and deliver accurate, high-quality work on time.
- Respond to routine accounting and compliance queries and escalate complex tax or regulatory matters to the Accounts Team Lead.
- Coordinate with the Accounts Team Lead and other team members to meet client deadlines and maintain consistent service quality.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, and other relevant jurisdictional requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- 1–3 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Hands-on experience using Xero or QuickBooks; experience with at least one is required.
- Practical experience with bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, general-ledger maintenance, accruals, prepayments, and month-end closing.
- Experience preparing or supporting financial statements and management reports.
- Experience supporting UAE or GCC clients is preferred; UK, US, or other international-client experience is also relevant. Physical UAE employment is not required.
- UAE VAT or Corporate Tax exposure is an advantage but is not mandatory.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work directly with clients.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, work independently, and collaborate with the wider team.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and comfortable working full-time remotely during UAE working hours.
