Role Description The Astronomy Master Trainer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Kolkata Area. This role involves delivering astronomy education sessions and workshops using Navars’ astronomy labs, DIY kits, and portable planetarium setups in schools and community venues. The trainer will design and conduct interactive lessons, demonstrations, and hands-on activities that simplify complex astronomical concepts for diverse age groups. Day-to-day tasks include preparing training materials, coordinating with school staff, setting up and operating portable planetarium equipment, and ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment. The Astronomy Master Trainer will also collect feedback, support curriculum refinement, and contribute to outreach events and promotional activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of astronomy and space science concepts, with the ability to explain them clearly to varied age groups.
- Experience in teaching, training, or educational facilitation, preferably in STEM or science outreach settings.
- Ability to design interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and demonstrations aligned with school curricula.
- Comfort with operating educational equipment such as portable planetariums and basic audiovisual tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills, with strong classroom management abilities.
- Commitment to learner-centric, inclusive teaching practices that support diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Willingness to travel locally within the Greater Kolkata Area and work with multiple schools and community centers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Astronomy, Physics, Education, or a related field; advanced certifications in astronomy outreach are an advantage.
- Prior experience in science communication, outreach programs, or edtech organizations is beneficial.
- Enthusiasm for inspiring curiosity, encouraging hands-on exploration, and promoting scientific thinking among learners.
